5 Fitness Channels You Should Watch if You’re a Health Freak

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Now more than ever, it is harder to stay active. Most of us are stuck at home all day completing tasks online for work, school, family, or just trying to stay socially distant from others during the COVID-19 pandemic. However, it is so crucial during this time to keep our bodies in the best shape possible. To protect ourselves from becoming sick, it is imperative that we take care of our immune systems and fuel our bodies with nutritious meals. Exercising our muscles and eating clean every day will not only promote happiness and reduce your anxiety, but it will actually help you feel good throughout your life. Lucky for you, I found 5 fitness channels on Youtube that will help you make being healthy, a habit.

  1. Chloe Ting

You may have already heard about her on Tik Tok, but Chloe Ting has blown up the Internet over quarantine thanks to her Two Week Shred Challenge. This challenge from two to four videos a day that focus on strengthening your core, arms, and legs as well as burning fat. There are some active rest days during the challenge as well so that you don’t overwork your muscles! Besides that, she has more free home workout programs including a “21 Days Fit Challenge,” “15 Days Intense Core Challenge,” 25 Days Hourglass Challenge, ” and even a brand new 2 Week Shred Challenge she released in August 2020. She has sixteen challenges total, which is enough to last you through next year!

2. MadFit

The best part about Maddie Lymburner’s channel is that she has super fun dance workouts! Maddie is a dancer herself and she choreographs all of her workouts. She dances to hit songs in all of her videos, not getting a single dime for them due to copywriting. She just loves what she does and puts her whole heart into her channel, which is very obvious to all of her subscribers. As part of a series, she has made a “15 Minute Dance Party Workout- Full Body/No Equipment” to music from the 90’s, early 2000s, and 2010s. She also makes HIIT workouts and has videos with music by Justin Bieber, One Direction, Taylor Swift, songs from Tik Tok, etc. You can also find a cookbook full of delicious recipes she has made linked on her channel. Plus, she has another channel with her boyfriend and they’re super cute together!!

3. Blogilates

The famous Blogilates channel! This one is well known by celebrities and the workout community. Cassey Ho is the creator of the channel and she has been around for a few years. Cassey started her channel in June of 2009 and now has a whopping 5.36 million subscribers! According to her “About” page on Youtube, she is a “certified Pilates and Fitness instructor” who wants to help you “accomplish your health and fitness goals.” She wants you to make fitness a priority so “you can not only look amazing, but also FEEL amazing.” Her channel is made up of a variety of videos. Her content includes several advice videos, such as “Don’t like your body? This video will change that,” “My three step formula for crushing ANY goal,” and “The Unusual Beauty Standard For Fitness Gals.” She also has TONS of workout videos targeting different parts of your body, as well as fully body ones. Her channel gives me inspirational vibes!!

4. Melissa Woodhealth

According to her Youtube channel, Melissa Woodhealth (aka Melissa Wood-Tepperberg is a “mom, certified health and wellness coach, yoga and pilates teacher, meditator, and thriving on a plant based diet.” Basically, she’s killing the health and fitness game. If you are really interested in what it’s like to be vegan or even just be vegetarian, I highly recommend her channel. She makes a lot of yummy vegan food on her channel, such as in her “Easy Vegan Burger Patty Recipe- Bonberi Recipes” video and her “What I Eat in a Day” content. She often photographs her vegan meals as well on her Instagram, inspiring everyone to live a life eating clean to help the environment! Other videos of hers include beauty tips for skincare, advice for mothers who are pregnant, pilates workouts, and even guided meditations.

5. Yoga with Adriene

If you’re brand new to yoga, don’t worry! Adriene has actually created a “Yoga for Beginners” and Foundations of Yoga” video series. For people who are looking for a little more of a challenge, she also has “Yoga for Weight Loss” and “Total Body Yoga” playlists that are geared towards the more advanced. Specifically for quarantine, Adriene dedicated a whole video series called “Yoga for Mental Health,” which can be found on her channel or linked in her bio on Instagram. All of her yoga videos are free and they are great to watch if you want to work up a sweat or even just de-stress. Nonetheless, she welcomes “all levels, all bodies, all genders, all souls” to her channel, so you have no excuse to not check out her videos!

Hopefully, this inspired you to get up off your booty and get your body moving! Your mood will be instantly lifted as the serotonin levels in your brain increase by working out. You will become not only mentally tough, but physically strong as well. If you have been feeling sluggish or unmotivated, these five channels will help you increase your energy and get you in better shape. Good luck, stay fit, and remember to have fun!!
