The 5 Best Romantic Movies to Binge Watch Alone on Valentine’s Day

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

Let’s be honest, the classic Valentine’s Day activities are overrated. Sure the fancy dinner, flowers and candy from your significant other are nice, but the night can be just as perfect spent alone or with your best friends.

So this year, load up on Valentine’s Day candy, curl up in your bed or couch and enjoy some of these romantic films on Netflix.

1. Set it up

This  gem of a movie is slightly cheesy, but will leave you happy at the end. What makes this movie so cute is the fact that love blossomed through the character’s day to day lives. It gives hope to everyone focused on school or careers that there are others out there that have similar goals and priorities.

2. To all the Boys I’ve Loved Before

Arguably, one of the  most popular rom com’s to be released on Netflix this past year. This movie leaves us full of smiles  every time we watch it (Is six times too many times to watch this movie?). To all the Boys I Loved Before is a movie for all of the hopeless romantics out there. It brings out the high  school girl in you that is still crushing on the most popular guy at school. To All The Boys I Love Before is the perfect film for a Valentine’s Day movie binge  because it leaves you feeling full of love at the end of the night.

3. A Christmas Prince (the first AND second)

While it is no longer the holiday season,  this movie is still a perfect love story for your night. It plays off of the classic royal love story we all dreamed of as kids. A journalist from New York City travels to the fictional country, Aldovia, to write a story about the royal family and ends up falling for the prince. While incredibly cheesy, this hopeful, classic love story is a great way to spend your Valentine’s Day.

4. Definitely Maybe

While this film is older than the first few on the list, it is still the perfect love story for your Valentine’s Day. It is definitely a change of pace from the other films on this list because it has a more serious and dramatic tone that will make you want to keep watching. It is sweet, simple and leaves you with feel-good optimism that every rom com should.

5. Ibiza Love Drunk

This is a super fun romantic story that is a classic “girls gone wild” trip turned romantic. This movie is perfect for your Valentine’s Day with your favorite girls.

This year, Valentine’s Day does not have to be spent with a significant other, in fact you can have an even better night alone or with your girls. Take a night for yourself, binge watch some cheesy, romance movies and yes, finish that whole box of chocolates you bought for yourself.
