11 Feels All Harry Potter Fans Had About the Announcement 8th Book

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Poly chapter.

It’s like a gift from Godric Gryffindor himself. The British book publisher Little Brown just dropped a truly magical announcement: There is an EIGHTH BOOK in the Harry Potter series! This. Is. Real.

The eighth book is called Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Parts I and II. And this book isn’t fanfiction or a deviation like Magical Beasts and Where to Find Them. Queen Rowling herself wrote this – in fact, the book will contain the script for Rowling’s upcoming play of the same name. If you’re as big a Harry Potter fan as we are, you’re probably experiencing a whirl of emotion:

1. You couldn’t even believe it when you first heard the news. It seems even less likely than the Irish winning the World Cup but Krum catching the Snitch.

2. You’re skeptical. You’ve been hurt before. Also, the series ended in 2011 (but never in your heart).

3. But then the news sunk in. You’ve never felt a truer joy before.

4. EXCITEMENT.

5. TOTAL EXCITEMENT.

6. Amidst the happiness, you always feel gratitude towards the biggest HP fan of all: J.K. Rowling, the gift that keeps on giving. All Hail Queen Rowling.

7. Your friends think you’re weird for being so excited about Harry Potter. Don’t worry about them; they’re Muggles, after all.

8. Like Fawkes from the ashes, your love for all things Potter rises renewed. So naturally, you look up everything you can about the new book.

9. And that’s when you saw it won’t be coming out for another 5 months.

10. Even so, waiting for a new book fills you with nostalgia. It was basically your childhood after all. You still wish you had a Time Turner though.

11. But above all else, you’re ready to allow the magic be part of your life once again.

So keep your calendars marked for July 31, 2016. We’ll be returning to the halls of Hogwarts soon.
