Wander with Me: The Sweetest Swing

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cal Lutheran chapter.

This adventure takes you out to the sweetest little swing! I’ve been finding so many swings around the area lately and they are all so cute and peaceful! I didn’t realize how much I actually enjoyed swinging until I got back onto that wooden plank and let the long ropes carry me back and forth. Its so freeing and the swing being nestled under a giant oak tree makes for a beautiful view.

This hidden swing is just a quick walk around the back of a park in Calabasas. I wouldn’t even call it a hike; although if you want to hike, you can easily make this trip into a longer walk with even better views.

Take the 101 North and get off at Lost Hills. Turn right and just before you get to the Las Virgenes crossroad, there will be a park on the right.

To go the long way and hike, park along the street and take the visible trail up the steep hill. Don’t worry, this hill is the hardest part – once you make it to the top it’ll be worth it all! You’ll have a really great view, some beautiful scenery, and perfect trees for climbing around on. To get to the swing, continue along the trail that follows the spine of the ridge until it starts to go down the hill turning slightly to the left. On the side of the hill, you’ll see a giant tree with a perfect little swing hanging from its trusty branches!

If you just want to make a quick trip to explore the swings, take the short cut! Park in the designated parking lot and make your way over to the side of the park just at the base of the hills, behind where all of the picnic tables and benches are. From here, just walk up a short little path (you can see the tree from the bottom) and you’re there!

This swing is the perfect getaway. If you’re ever stressed or overwhelmed with school or anything, I definitely recommend this spot! Or even if you’d like to enjoy the fresh air and relax, just head out on this peaceful adventure.

My pictures are all from January, but I went back about a week ago and it is so much more green now! I definitely recommend adventuring here before all of this lush beauty is gone for summer!

So go let yourself be a kid again and swing for a while. I hope you love it!
