Spring is upon us, and it’s not just a change in the season but also a time for change within ourselves. Though Spring hasn’t come yet (March 20th), I feel as if I and many others require a desperate change. After many cold, drab, and COVID-filled winter months, Spring is finally here to carry this year to the potential and change it can certainly offer. Now, here are some tips on how to change up your routine just in time for spring.

Declutter or Revamp Your Space

Whether it be doing some SPRING cleaning, decluttering your closet, or even changing your room around, it’s always good to reinvent your current living space. Deep cleaning and organizing help keep your space neat and tidy while keeping your mind stress free. It can also help you prioritize things that need to be taken care of and make your living space an enjoyable place to be in.

Treat Yourself

Go ahead and eat that cookie or treat yourself to some morning Starbucks on your way to class! Consume the things you love with no shame but in moderation. A little treat here and there certainly doesn’t hurt, and it will increase your mood and hopefully be one of the highlights of your SPRING day.

Go Outside

Though it’s the beginning of March, take advantage of the warm weather soon to come and bask in the sun whenever you can. You’ve lost enough serotonin already being cooped up all winter, so why not go for a nice picnic or read a book outside. Vitamin D is important and will certainly put a SPRING into your step!

Spring: A lovely reminder of how beautiful change can truly be.

Start a New Morning Routine

There’s no better way than to welcome a new season of change with a switch-up in your morning routine. Try waking up a little bit early to enjoy the peacefulness of your morning, or even make it a goal to not go on your phone until you are dressed and ready for the day. Your morning routine is very important and helps get your day started, so take the utmost care in it, and I’m sure your mornings will put a better SPRING in your step.

Incorporate Healthier Food Into Your Diet

Despite eating out, visiting a friend’s house, or eating in your own home, try to incorporate some fresh SPRING veggies or even fruit into your daily routine. Perhaps switch out some french fries for a side salad, or instead of hashbrowns, eat some fresh strawberries in the morning. These small changes will not only keep your diet healthy but also continue to help you feel good.

Grow Something

Start tracking not only your growth but maybe a plant’s growth as well! SPRING is all about growing and blossoming, so why not have a buddy to remind you of that along the way. You can plant a flower or vegetable garden, and my fellow college students adorn your room with succulents or even little potted plants that don’t need too much attention. You are very similar to these plants, so make sure you’re giving them the same amount of care and attention that you would need on a regular basis.

FInd a New Hobby

Change doesn’t come without something new. Hobbies and discovering new interests are ways to help feel less repetition day-to-day. Try getting back into something you lost touch with some time ago or attempt a new fact you’ve always wanted to do. This might be your new go-to, and who knows, you might be incredibly good at it. Don’t be afraid to SPRING out of your comfort zone and know that it is okay to try something new every now and then.
