Leap Year is such an interesting year, isn’t it? Every four years is considered a Leap Year that consists of 366 days instead of the usual 365. You probably cannot remember when the last Leap Year was because four years seems like such a long time ago! Well, in 2020, you will probably be saying the same thing once again. Here are some fun facts about this special year that you do not want to miss!

1. It is an Irish tradition for women to propose on Leap Day (February 29) #feminism

2. People in Greece think it is bad luck to get married in a Leap year

3. If you are born on Leap day, or non-leap years, you can celebrate your birthday on February 28, March 1, or both days! No one will judge!

4. Also, you technically age “slower” than everyone else (take that as a compliment)

5. People have a 1-in-1461 chance of being born on a Leap Day

6. Many of the milestone birthdays like 18 and 21 do not fall on Leap years (sad isn’t it?)

7. There are over 4 million people who have a birthday on February 29th

8. Leap Day does not hold up in court

9. If the man refuses the proposal on Leap Day, he must give the woman either cash or clothes (oh my, every girls dream??)

10. Here is a fun poem to remember Leap Year by:

Thirty days hath September,

April, June, and November;

All the rest have thirty-one

Save February, she alone

Hath eight days and a score

Til Leap year gives her one day more.
