Letter From the Editor

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Cabrini chapter.

Dear Reader,

Welcome back to campus! My name is Erica Abbott and I am the campus correspondent and editor-in-chief of Cabrini’s chapter of Her Campus.

Heading into my senior year, exploring a new opportunity was very important to me. Wanting to incorporate everything I had learned as a communication major up to that point and taking a major step to learn more, I wanted to do something a bit out of my comfort zone. I wanted to provide another outlet for students’ voices to be heard and foster a community of incredibly talented people from the entire campus community. That’s when I found Her Campus.

Having launched just three months ago, I am so excited to kick off the new semester and make the most of my time left with HC Cabrini before I graduate in May.

Allow me to tell you a little bit about Her Campus on a national level: Her Campus is the #1 community for college women, with over 7,000 college journalists writing about pop culture, beauty, health, top issues facing the world today and just life in general. The online magazine also has supplementary content from 290+ chapters globally. That’s where we come in!

To quote Shakespeare, though we are but little, we are fierce. Since launching our chapter in October, we have recruited a team of 15 highly-motivated collegiettes, garnered a following of over 500 people across our social media platforms and we continue to grow every day. We were even awarded a Silver chapter level by Her Campus Nationals, which takes into account the amount of articles posted, number of visitors to our site, social media following and more.

In short, we are very proud of how far we have come since our launch. But guess what? There’s still much to be done and we want you to be a part of it.

If you’ve considered becoming more involved in an organization on campus, now is your chance. Passion for writing? Eye for photography? Social media enthusiast? Knack for planning events? There are a variety of ways to become involved and we’d love to have you join the team. Email cabrini@hercampus.com for more information.

In closing, if you are on the fence about pursuing a passion of yours while in college, remember to “go confidently in the direction of your dreams.” Don’t hold back. Now is the time to explore new opportunities.

HCXO,

Erica
