Despite the occasional random bout of April snow, there’s no doubt that spring is underway. With the warm weather that spring brings comes the potential for so many more activities. While winter is a great time to stay in and drink hot chocolate while working on homework (or watching Netflix), spring is a great time to go outside. Here are some fun things you can do near Cabrini if you’re itching for some sunshine.

1. Go to The Park

Going to Cabrini, we’re lucky enough to have a park right across from campus. This is a good thing, especially for students without cars, because it allows for a nice way to enjoy nature within an easily walkable distance. You can sit by the lake, go on the swings or just relax on a bench. Whatever you do, you’re sure to enjoy being outdoors and in a really pretty place.

2. Walk to/around Wayne

Grab a couple of friends and take a walk into Wayne to grab some food or just window shop. If you don’t want to walk all the way there, park once you get there and take a walk around. It’s a really cute area and it’s close by, so it’s a fun thing to do on a sunny afternoon when you don’t have classes.

3. Go Hiking

If you feel like getting a workout in, or just taking in some scenery, consider taking a hike. And not in the “go away” way. McKaig Nature Education is just a six-minute drive away from Cabrini and features a variety of different hiking trails you can enjoy.

4. Go Into Philly

Cities as a rule are pretty fun for walking. If you’re not looking for too much nature, but still looking for some fun, get some FastTrack tickets and a few friends and take a day trip to Philly. Visit some historical sites or just walk around and enjoy the sunshine.

5. Walk Around Campus

If you’re strapped for time, or if you just don’t want to travel far, take a walk around campus. Actually look around, unlike when you’re rushing to class. Cabrini is surrounded by trees and is very pretty.

Overall, Cabrini is a great place to be as the weather starts to get warmer. It’s located near a lot of places that make being outdoors really fun. So grab your sunglasses and flip flops, and have fun being out in the sunshine.
