All of us sitting around the coffee table

on our carpet full of crumbs

surrounded my cardboard boxes

that have kitchen appliances overflowing from themselves

Laughs radiate through the room and

as we play our card games and eat our last dinner

I am absorbing every moment I have left

Everybody says college goes by fast,

but I never realized they meant a blink of an eye.

I’ll miss our little white coffee table,

that we gathered around so often for many nights

like this one.

Although I am going to miss my apartment that I learned to call home, summer is still around the corner and there are still things to look forward to! Here are just a few of them:

Seeing Old Friends

Whether you go home for summer or live at college, there is time! Time to see old friends and make plans to spend some intentional time with them.

Summer Jobs/Internships

Of course, summer is seen as a time of rest, but realistically, with no school work, we have so much more time on our hands. Whether you have a job to save money for the following years or an internship to prepare you for what’s next — be thankful! Summer is a great time to make some extra money and not be overwhelmed while doing so.

Trying New Hobbies

While I am home this summer, I am looking forward to the time I can spend on trying new things! I hate feeling like I am living in a constant cycle of repetition. So I encourage everybody to try new things as well, whatever it may be. There is no growth in your comfort zone

No More Homework

This one seems obvious, but just think about all the extra free time! You can now read that book you’ve had your eye on or listen to that podcast without having to rush.

Nothing says summer like a good, relaxing few months that you can spend really doing things for YOU.

I am a freshman at the College of Charleston and absolutely love this city. I am an English EDEN major and plan to travel and teach after graduation!
