I really like music. I mean, who doesn’t? It allows us to feel things and express ourselves with words (even if they aren’t always our own). Whenever I’m feeling a certain way, I like to find a song that fits my mood; something that relates to me at that particular moment. Each feeling gets its own song, so here are a few of my favorite songs for certain feelings.

When I want to roll the windows down in the car and sing at the top of my lungs: “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen

It’s such an iconic song, and it’s literally impossible to not try and sing all parts and (air) play every instrument. Who cares how dark a song it is, it’s so much fun, especially when there are other people in the car with you!

When I’m mad about something: “Picture to Burn” by Taylor Swift

Any time I’m in a foul mood I put this song on and start singing along. Not only does is it a great way to relieve my mood but it also gives me an excuse to listen to some classic Taylor!

When I want to dance around my room: “1999” by Charli XCX and Troye Sivan

This one is just a pure bop, there’s nothing else to it! I can’t help BUT dance when it comes on.

When I’m with my theater friends: “One Day More” from Les Miserables

You can’t be a proper theater kid unless you attempt to sing every part of this song simultaneously. It’s just the way things are.

When I’m trying to unwind after a long day: “Mystery of Love” by Sufjan Stevens

It’s so soft, pretty, and lyrical that it calms me down after a long day. Plus the lyrics are beautiful and it’s a good reminder of a great movie.
