If you live in Charleston, you know that there are so many cool local businesses! In fact, at some point, you have probably walked down King Street to go shopping or grab a bite to eat. I am going to share some of my favorite places that are locally owned that you should go to next time you are walking downtown! “Buy from locally owned businesses” can sound like just a trendy catchphrase, but more than 500 locations in the Charleston area depend on their consumers.

These are just a few of the locally owned places in the downtown Charleston area and I encourage you to go check them all out! Supporting locally owned businesses is so important and they do depend on us. Next time you are thinking about where to get your cup of coffee or new piece of clothing, I encourage you to try and shop local!

Red Rose Vintage

Red Rose Vintage has an online store as well as an instagram account (@redrosevintage). If you follow their account, you can get information about the weekly pop-up shops right off King! There are usually pop-up shops every Wednesday from 10 am – 2 pm and on Saturdays from 11 am – 3 pm.

I shop from Red Rose all the time and have never been disappointed! The vintage clothing I have collected over time from this shop has made my closet so much more unique and I feel so confident with every piece of clothing I have purchased.

The Daily

The Daily is the cutest and coziest place to go whenever I need to grab a cup of coffee and do some homework. This marketplace has fresh food, beverages, and goods sourced from local farmers and artisans in the Charleston area. They, of course, have delicious coffee, but their breakfast biscuits are something I am always down to spend money on!

Altered Ego Apparel

This shop above Dress Up on King Street is another favorite of mine! They have some thrifted clothes, but the majority of the clothing is repurposed by local artists from the area and they have such a variety of styles! You can definitely find some staple pieces of clothing for your closet here.

Millers All Day

Millers is my go-to brunch spot. This is the cutest restaurant with the friendliest staff and they have amazing food. Millers is on King and you pass it walking to the Battery. If you have passed this restaurant before but never been, go! I am not that much of a morning person but I am willing to wake up early to beat the lines to eat here.

I am a freshman at the College of Charleston and absolutely love this city. I am an English EDEN major and plan to travel and teach after graduation!
