At five years old, every girl wants to be a ballerina, an astronaut, and a model. Most little girls probably see themselves as some combination of these three all at the same time. As we grow up, the majority of us do not grow those tall model legs and end up living vicariously through the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show every winter. Lindsey Peterson, C of C class of 2014, is one of the lucky few fulfilling our model fantasies, and somehow getting through the Business College and being president of my own sorority as well! She even took time out of her busy schedule during Charleston Fashion Week to answer some questions for us.

Hometown: Atlanta, GA

Major/Minor: Business Administration, Finance Concentration

What was your first experience modeling and how did you get started? I was approached when I was visiting family in San Francisco when I was 10 years old to be in a Klutz Art Book to hold a piece of origami. The most exciting part was they let me keep the origami!

What has your favorite shoot/show been? My favorite shows are always when I get to walk for Charleston Fashion Week in the Spring!

How do you balance school, being president of Chi Omega, and working? I have 5 planners and color-code EVERYTHING!

How long do you plan to continue? Modeling is not something I want to pursue, I really want to work behind the scenes as a buyer!

Current fashion obsession? Jlinsnider, Jeffrey Campbell, and The Man Repeller Blog

What are your plans after college? To move to New York City and work as a fashion merchandiser or buyer (someone please hire me!)

What is the best lesson working in the fashion industry has taught you? Be confident in who you are. Don’t try to change yourself to keep up with the current “trends” or diets because fashion is what you make it.
