Kardashian 2.0: Kendall Jenner is a New Kind of Kardashion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

This past Black Friday, while we shopped our little hearts out, the independent magazine Dazed & Confused released a new rendition of the Mean Girls renowned Burn Book. However, this go around, instead of seeing Regina George furiously writing “She is a fugly sl*t” following her picutre on our screen, Dazed readers may have been simply surprised as they were greeted by the magazines very own winter 2014 cover girl dishing out the disses.

Kendall Jenner took on this parody, addressing “ALL U H8ERS” by playing along with their judgments on this Jenner who comes from the family famed for their Kardashian Klan genre of reality stardom.

You better put on those hater shades before you watch this socialite slam, for the video depicts Kendall marking the Burn Book up and down with bashes from all her cynical critics and devilish doubters. This villification of self gives a sweet nod to all the naysayers as Kendall takes a victorious approach to responding to the hot gossip on her privileged lifestyle and lack of promising potential. Her version of the book is lambasted with:

Kendall Jenner will never be a real model.

Too bad she’s one of the richest, prettiest, talentless people ever.

Why is she a runway model?

This girl cannot be in high fashion. She’s ugly.

She couldn’t do this without her family.

All these quips hit Jenner’s way target her as a lack lustering, spoiled, undeserving rich girl whose name got her in the door rather than her talent. However, if any of these haters chose to fact check before attacking, they would come to realize that Kendall’s actually not the one doing most of the knocking at the doorsteps of haute houses. Rather, the resident designers of the houses are lining up at the doorstep of the Kardashian-Jenner pad for their moment to muse this model. This model madness that has sparked the Kendall phenomenon is showing to be a serious sensation. This is more than just a fashion fling; it’s a full on romance. The elites of fashion are in a trance by Kendall’s model muse potential and are molding her into the hot new it girl that’s in quite high demand these days.

We all get that the spotlight should be shared between the sibling socialites, but its nearly impossible not too sashay our way over to Kendall’s side with all her chicness, model friends, and newly blossoming star sibling status. From posing almost unrecognizable in the edge-filled Marc Jacobs ad campaigns to being among the Chanel chosen ones frequenting Lagerfeld’s coveted runway, she’s got that certain je ne sais quoi that is a recipe dripping in supermodel/it girl potential.

Kendall is more Jenner than Kardashian in the looks department, which seems to be doing wonders on her career. For unlike the rest of the K Klan sisters, whose curves are more pinup then avant-garde, Kendall has that essential model mix of a delicate demure and rare awkward beauty that designers die over. Let’s face it, with those gentle Jenner genetics (which happen to resemble those of her hottie bros Brody and Brandon) and passion for the fashion industry, she is fated with a talent made for modeling.

Kendall’s appearance, attitude, and actions are proving she is more suited for the fashion fame than any of her other sisters. For while she emblazons the runways of Givenchy, Fendi, Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, and Chanel fashion shows, the rest of the Kardashians are still stuck as just socialites/wannabe-fashions-next-muse.

Sorry to stir up the sibling rivalry, but Kendall Jenner is showing the world that she may be cut from the same cloth as Kim, Kloe, Kourtney, and Kylie, but she’s definitely sewn together with a different design in mind. While her sisters feed on the drama, she’s more pro-peaceful vibes with her aura of chilled chic. While they thrive on the reality shows and tabloid gossip, she thrives on the runway shows and fashion editorials. While the rest of Kardashian Klan do whatever “work appearances” necessary to be a super socialite, Kendall is doing whatever hardworking haute appearances necessary to be a supermodel.

Let’s face it, Keeping up with the Kardashians is soooo last year. Our reality-crazed attentions and star struck eyes are ready to be redirected towards Keeping up with Kendall instead. She’s “jenner-ating” a lot of fandom as the world is introduced to Kardashian 2.0 on behalf of the second coming of that dashing DNA. This all seems to be enough proof that the notorious fab fam of tv has a dazzling diamond in their rough, risqué reality show, as the supermodel sibling is packing some major talent hidden within all that fictitious family drama.
