How to Say “I Love You” Without Saying “I Love You”

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner, and because of the world’s current events, it may look a little different than usual this year. As a lover of the holiday, I think I have the celebrations and gift-giving locked down. Although flowers, strawberries, and chocolates are the stereotypical aphrodisiac, words, in my opinion, are the best way to say “I love you.” The national love day may be hard for those who have a hard time communicating their feelings or emotions, but I’ve got your back! Here are 15 ways to say “I love you,” without saying “I love you.”

“This song reminds me of you.”

A personal favorite of mine to give and receive are songs. Music is the best way to say how you feel.

“Text me when you get home.”

Although this may seem like just a decent thing to do, it helps people remember how your safety driving home may impact those in your life.

“You can always talk to me.”

Reassurance is always a good way to let someone know you care.

A small peck on the forehead.

Small, but sweet and kind.

“You can stay at my place.”

A bigger offer than talking, but helpful, and can bring the two of you closer.

“You mean a lot to me.”

Do I even need to explain this one?

“Do you want to share my food?”

The perfect one to say to a Taurus, even though they may not say it in return!

“This meme made me think of you.”

A time for the both of you to laugh together!

“You have such an exciting mind.”

A deep way of expressing your admiration for someone.

“Your voice brings me comfort.”

Can also replace a nice hug; I think the best thing you can do for someone is just comforting them.

“I value your opinion.”

Respectful, and helps relieve pressure.

“The way you think inspires me.”

Like number 9, when someone sees and appreciates the deeper layers, it is always an exciting compliment to receive.

“You always have a safe place with me.”

Going off of 5, physical or emotionally, this one can really help someone you love.

“I like the way you see things.”

The true form of expressing admiration for someone.

“I made you a playlist.”

My most favorite way of telling someone “I love you” without saying “I love you.”

And if words are genuinely just not your thing: here’s a Spotify playlist you can send them instead.
