How to Be Boujee on a College Budget

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

Are you broke and boujee at the same time? Relatable. Now that I have totally figured out how to live this lifestyle, I am prepared to share my secrets. A word of warning– if you hate Whole Foods or wine, you might as well exit now. If you have a deep love for both, like me, I am about to change your life and wallet for the better.

Mezzati Luxury Sheets

Do you want to sleep in the comfiest sheets known to mankind every single night? Obviously your answer is yes. In that case, I know you have been looking at Bed Bath & Beyond’s 800-Thread-Count sheets. Girl, your mother is not buying you $130 sheets for your college apartment. Sorry, it is just the truth.

On to better news, Amazon sells the most amazing sheets for a total of $25. Yes, they are better than Bed Bath & Beyond’s, and you will not have to sell an organ for them. I love them so much that I have them at my apartment in Charleston, my parent’s house and my boyfriend’s house. Yes, I Amazon Primed them to my boyfriend’s.

Opalhouse Towels

Similar to the Bed Bath & Beyond Turkish towels of your dreams, these Opalhouse towels are pure heaven against your body after a nice shower! Opalhouse is a Target brand that is very similar to Anthropologie but without the price tag. These bath towels are only $5.99, so I recommend ordering now!

Charles Shaw Wine

Is your love language also a trip to Trader Joe’s? You are my new bestie. I could do a whole blog post on every item I purchase from Trader Joe’s, but I know you only care about getting drunk for cheap. I feel you, so it’s fine. For my red wine girls, Charles Shaw is a Cabernet Sauvignon that costs $2.99 from Trader Joe’s. Call your girlfriends and go have a wine night for a maximum of $10. Don’t forget my invite.

Stars Above Pajamas

Target also sells this new brand known as Stars Above, and you might as well just plan to spend your whole day rubbing the fabrics against your cheek. The brand is mainly pajamas, but I would wear most of the stuff to classes or when I am going to my local coffee shop. Everything is extremely soft, comfortable and cheap! The quality is amazing, so forget Nordstrom’s pajamas and just go to Target.

Whole Foods

I know you are thinking I’m insane because Whole Foods is only for rich people. I totally agree. However, there are a couple of things that we broke college students can afford.

Their Organic Classic Salted Popcorn comes in a huge bag and is only $4. Let me just say, it’s worth every penny! Also, they have cookies displayed in their bakery section that are usually warm and so freaking delicious. Hands down, best cookies I have ever had. Also, they make a lot of vegan ones that taste just like a normal cookie. And do not even get me started on their hot food bar. The orange chicken, the mac and cheese, the chicken pot pie — stop it. Drooling. Whole Foods, sponsor me.

The Real Real

If you are really trying to live your best boujee life with a couple of hundred dollars, welcome to The Real Real. This website/app sells used designer clothing, purses, shoes, and more. The deals are insanely good if you keep watching the product you want, but don’t be alarmed when you see higher price tags because they are still designer items.

I hope you can put my college life hacks to use if you are trying to live your best life with your college allowance. If the dining halls are as much as you can afford, go get that ice cream with sprinkles girl, you are still living good!

Hey, my name is Molly! I am a Senior at the College of Charleston and am majoring in English. I am from Saratoga Springs, NY, but absolutely love the warm weather here! I spend most of my time nannying or reading Betches.
