If you are a horror movie enthusiast like me, you know just how exciting the season of Halloween can be. October is the time to rewatch all your favorite horror movies or add a few new ones to your list! This is a list of horror movies that are an absolute must-watch for this spooky season.

Halloween (1978)

Between the babysitter’s club teenage dynamic and the haunting music that is played throughout the entire movie, Halloween is a movie that will have you on the edge of your seat. The masked and mysterious Micheal Myers comes back to visit his childhood home and the site of his sister’s murder, Haddonfield, Illinois after a 15-year stint at the mental hospital. How much damage can one psychopath do on Halloween night?

Insidious (2011)

The story follows Dalton, a kid who knows how to astral project in his sleep into another world, one full of spirits and demons. This totally average American family’s life capsizes when their house is berated with ghosts. This one is definitely the scariest on the list in my opinion. The red demon guy 100% haunted my dreams for a bit.

Sinister (2012)

Calling all true crime fanatics, this is the horror movie for you. Following the gruesome murders of several families, a book writer moves his family into the latest murder site. Some things just aren’t right at the house. But is it a mass murderer or something bigger?

Friday the 13th (1980)

Who doesn’t love an 80s summer camp gone wrong? A dozen sexed-up camp counselors arrive at Camp Crystal Lake days early to anticipate the arrival of their campers, but what they didn’t anticipate was an ax-wielding murderer.

Evil Dead (1981)

Another classic like Friday the 13th, Evil Dead is a campy teen cabin trip gone wrong. One by one each of the kids get possessed by demon spirits and the only thing on their mind is to kill each other. This movie is absolutely ridiculous and not in the slightest scary, but it is still a movie that needs to be experienced at least once in your life. C’mon it’s a classic.

Creep (2014)

This movie’s nut job is Aaron. Aaron hires a cinematopher to film a video for his future baby in his cabin in the woods. Nothing creepy about that right. Things turn south quickly when the videographer discovers Aaron is not expecting a baby, but instead Aaron has a thirst for murder. Creep is unexpectedly scary and probably the least well-known one on the list, but definitely worth a watch.
