Spirituality is something I’ve been exploring since the beginning of the pandemic. My dad is very religious but has been nothing but supportive when it comes to my younger sister and I exploring our options. I decided to try out crystals after reading up on them late one night. If you don’t know, crystals promote emotional, physical, and mental healing by tuning into your energy, also known as chakras. Every crystal has a different purpose, and I’m giving you my top five favorite crystals and their purposes.

Green Aventurine

This was the very first crystal I ever bought. I was strolling through the Charleston market where I came upon a booth that was loaded with all sorts of beautiful stones. I had read somewhere that the green aventurine was great for luck and at the time, I really felt like I needed some. I picked up the first stone and thought “Why not!”

After reading up on how to properly cleanse and charge it, I started to sleep with it under my pillow every night. You can also throw this stone in your wallet if you’re looking for luck in money. I truly believe this stone has opened up some great opportunities for me. When I had to register for classes last semester, I managed to get into all of my number one choice classes even though they all only had one seat left. Maybe it was the stone, maybe not, but I like to believe the tiny green stone played a role.

Rose Quartz

This was the second stone I bought. Rose quartz is great for love of all types. If you are seeking help in romance, friendships, or self-love then rose quartz is a must. It helps to promote trust and encouragement.

Amethyst

Amethyst is such a beautiful stone, but it does far more than just look pretty. The stone can help to ease anxiety and stress and promote a sense of calm. As someone who struggles with anxiety, I love to carry this crystal in my pocket with me whenever I know I will be doing something that is gonna cause high-stress levels.

Selenite

Selenite is most commonly associated with wisdom and knowledge. If you are seeking clarity in a situation, this white stone will help to open your eyes and provide the knowledge you need.

Tiger’s Eye

I actually found out about this stone from Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidmans’ movie Practical Magic. If you have never seen it, definitely check it out! It is one of my favorites. A tiger’s eye is a stone of protection from evil or unwanted energy. If you are going to get a tiger’s eye, I recommend getting it as a jewelry form so that you can have it on you at all times. They make necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, etc.

If you’re interested in learning more about the power of crystals, I really recommend finding a local shop! They are typically more knowledgeable about the energies the crystals possess and you will be getting the real deal.
