Let’s get real for a second — experiencing Valentine’s Day during month eleven of a pandemic feels completely opposite of what Valentine’s Day is all about: spending time with the people you love. Of course, staying six feet apart really screams romance! That being said, the most loving, respectful, and free activity you can do on this Valentine’s Day is wear a mask.

And obviously, stream these songs I’ve compiled for you, Valentine. Plan a Zoom date with your closest girlfriends, open that pint of Ben and Jerry’s you’ve been saving, and add these to your Spotify playlist.

“Someone New” – Hozier

For the Hopeless Romantic — Hozier pens a fairytale that takes place every time I see a Timothee Chalamet lookalike in the grocery store. I’m buying brie cheese, he’s browsing through the cracker aisle, it’s a match made in heaven, and I’ll probably never see him again.

“Gold Rush”- Taylor Swift

For the crush you locked eyes with, but aren’t sure what the rest of their face looks like because they are wearing a mask. Now you’re totally not being creepy by checking the class email list and then finding them on Instagram. This is your sign to DM them, and let your mind turn their life into folklore, as Taylor Swift did so wonderfully in this song.

“Obvious” – Ariana Grande

For the person who really — I mean really — needs to take a hint. You should never be afraid to tell someone how you feel, especially if Ariana Grande is singing about it. This is your sign to initiate, and if they turn you down, there will always be another perfect stranger in another aisle of the grocery store.

“Michelle”- The Beatles

POV — You’re trying to impress that person who told you their favorite book is The Great Gatsby. You are all about classics, and this song is a great way to show that! In a similar fashion, if you’ve ever posted an Instagram story for the sole purpose of having one person see it, yes, this song is for you.

“Real Love Baby” – Father John Misty

You wear your heart on your sleeve, and you probably also love to dance in your kitchen while you’re cooking grilled cheese. Don’t ask how I know, I just do. Keep those rose-colored glasses on, babe.

Whether you celebrate with someone special (socially distanced) or February 14th is going to be just another Sunday for you, this playlist is a sure way to feel all the good feelings this Valentine’s Day. Don’t forget to check in and show yourself the love you’ve been showing others.
