The Best Farmers Markets in the Charleston Area

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

Farmers markets allow visitors to experience Charleston like a local. Over the last decade or two, the Charleston area has become decorated in farmers markets, each with a pallet of colorfully displayed locally grown vegetables. The excitement of farmers markets doesn’t just stop at the local produce. There’s often live music, food trucks, and local artists to support as well! Knowing where to start may be overwhelming so below I constructed a list filled with some of the best farmers market surrounding the Charleston area.

Charleston’s Farmers Market

  • Located in Marion Square

  • Open Saturdays from 8am till 2pm

  • Runs April 11th till November 28th

The Charleston’s Farmers Market is one of the largest outdoor markets downtown with over 100 vendors. The Charleston Farmers Market has been dedicated to the support of Lowcountry farmers, artisans and crafters and live performers since 1989. Simply a great place to bring the dog for a walk and to enjoy some local eats!

Sunday Brunch Farmers Market

  • Located behind the Pour House (1977 Maybank Highway)

  • Open Sundays from 11am to 3pm

  • Year round

Sunday Brunch offers a laid back experience with locals. Located behind a music venue Sunday Brunch Farmers Market offers yoga on the deck in the morning and live music in the afternoon. Although the farmers market is filled with local produce, many seem to enjoy the variety of food trucks offered in the lot as well. Overall, one of the most “laid back” farmers markets in the Charleston area.

Mount Pleasant Farmers Market

  • Located in Mt. Pleasant Farmers Market Pavillion (645 Coleman Blvd)

  • Open Tuesdays from 3:30 pm till 7pm

  • Runs April 7th till September 2nd

The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is where you should go for fresh flowers, seafood, and baked goods and for an overall good time! Although the parking can be a little congested, it is a really neat place to drop in and check out, with plenty of free samples including BBQ and boiled peanuts.

Folly Beach Farmers Market

  • Located in Folly River Park (Center Street)

  • Open Monday 4-8pm and Saturday from 11am-4pm

  • Year round

Folly Beach Farmers Market is a great way to give back to the small beach town, and enjoy some live music, fresh vegetables and jelly samples. Just a five minute walk from the sandy dunes, Folly Beach Farmers Market encourages dogs and families to come to support the community!
