A Beautiful Life: 8 Reasons You Cannot Be Sad While Living in Charleston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C of C chapter.

I don’t know about y’all, but I’ve been in a weird mood lately. I’m not sure if it’s the crazy weather, the fact that we only have a month left of school, or the full moon, but something’s felt a bit…off. It’s sometimes hard to pick myself up when I feel down, but the one thing that always works? Making a list of the reasons your life rocks, because let’s be honest, sometimes we lose sight of how awesome our lives are. And when you live in Charleston, making a list of the finer and fantastic things in life really isn’t too hard. Here’s mine – it’s still a work in progress. When life’s got you down, feel free to read it over… or make your own!

8 Reasons to be Happy while attending CofC

1. You can walk to the Battery and go dolphin-watching whenever you want

2. We get to wear summer attire in March and April. No white before Memorial Day? What’s that you say?

3. There’s no shortage of places to get a fantastically satisfying cup of coffee.

4. The beach is just fifteen short minutes away

5. The ability to lay out in Marion Square and watch attractive shirtless boys play Frisbee…

6. Charleston restaurants…we basically invented the phrase “comfort food”.  Some examples: Nick’s BBQ’s mac’n’cheese, Moe’s overall existence, and brunch with bottomless mimosas at Toast.  For dessert, try Cupcake’s cupcakes. ‘Sup, cookies and cream.

7. Retail and spa therapy are within feet of our classrooms. Get a quick polish change at Tips-to-Toes for as little as $8. Perfect pick me up!

8. There are always puppies. Everywhere.
