How do you know them?” She asks

My freckles disappear in the blush

Matching my sweater,

Your favorite—

Like my eyes, you said.

To answer that question

Would span eons.

I know you in every way imaginable,

And I fathom something new

Each time I hear you sing.

So instead I smile.

I wear my blush as an accessory.

No longer caring

If the flush reveals too much.

All traces of cynicism have faded.

It is simply,

Unfiltered emotion, everything I’ve ever

Wanted to feel. Whole

Heart filled to the brim.

You can hear it in my voice when

I reply

“Oh, well, they’re my lover!”

She laughs;

I believe in that moment she could

Really see my pupils morph their shape

Into small hearts.

happy valentine’s day <3
