New Year’s resolutions are here.  However as important as goals and resolutions are it is also important to just think about certain things in your life more often.

These things can make or break your year, regardless of how big or small they are.

1) Your Posture

You can never go wrong with standing up straight.  Let the world know who you are!  It can also have long lasting affects on your back and keeping you from getting the dreaded hunchback.  So: chins out, stomachs in, rule the world!  Plus, this will allow you to clearly see those throwing shade your way throughout the New Year.  And you most certainly don’t need that in your life.

2) Your Skin

Your skin is on you for life (*le duh*), so you have got to take care of it!  That means keeping it hydrated and using sunscreen!  Stay away from tanning beds.  Don’t pop or squeeze every pour.  You’ll thank yourself in the long run when you don’t have to worry about skin cancer or acne scars.  Plus, treating your skin right will give you an exuberant glow to light your way through 2016.

3) A Challenge for Yourself

Find something that you want to accomplish that will most definitely be hard.  Stick to it and accomplish it.  Have you always dreamed of running a marathon? Do it.  Have you always wanted to become a vegetarian?  Do it.  All it takes is effort.  Stick to it and you’ll feel so proud when you’ve finally accomplished it.

4) Your Relationships

This is a tough one but it’s a new year, so it must be done.  Think of the people in your life, and think of the ones who actually deserve to be there.  Think of the people that make you happy and support you.  Think of the ones who are by your side and make your #SquadGoals possible.  Now think of the ones who do none of that.  Think of the ones who weigh you down and make you feel like less of a person.  Eliminate those people.  They don’t deserve a place in your life if you feel miserable when you’re with them.

And, lastly…

5) Yourself

In 2016, make yourself your priority.

You are your biggest enemy, critic, and you best friend.  Show yourself some love.  Treat yourself.  Go out and meet new people.  And above all do things that will ultimately better you.  Read a book.  Go for a run.  Start a new workout plan.  Drink more water and less wine.  Get that new haircut that you’ve been too scared to try out.  Just do something that will help you.  Make 2016 the year where you treat yourself right and the way you deserve to be treated!

And yes, that does mean eat that ice cream and drink that wine!  You have only one body but you also are only young once.  Don’t lose sight of that and don’t lose sight of who you are.
