The end of the semester is drawing nearer. In order to reduce stress and anxiety during the last couple of weeks, try your best to avoid these mistakes.

1. Skipping class

  • Sometimes skipping class can be extremely tempting. Especially now that the weather is warming up. However, try to do everything you can to make sure you show up for the last few weeks of class. Even though most professors allow a certain number of unexcused absences, and you may not have missed that many already, it will still benefit you to go to class. Professors notice the students who decide to attend when most of the class would rather go to the beach. Not to mention, these last few weeks are the classes when professors will be teaching the material for the final exam, which normally counts for a large percentage of your grade!

2. Procrastinating until the last minute

  • The end of the semester is when all of the papers, projects and big tests that require lots of studying are. It may be easier to watch just one more episode on Netflix instead of reading one more chapter, but remember that putting off those big assignments is just going to make it harder on you in the end. If you really have trouble with procrastination, make a schedule and set reminders on your phone to let you know when you should get off of tumblr and start writing your paper.

3. Taking your grades TOO seriously

  • Although your grades are important, YOU should be at the top of your priorities list. Try not to stress out too much about grades. At the end of the day, it’s only a letter. Don’t let school be detrimental to your mental health. Only you know when you’re starting to get burnt out and that’s when it’s ok to take a break and do something to relax.

4. Missing out on social activities

  • When you do need to take those breaks for yourself, keep in mind that there are things happening around you that you could be experiencing. Once the semester is over, you won’t remember whether you made a 73 or a 94 on the final, but you’ll remember the fun events you went to with your friends. Colleges provide a multitude of on campus events for student to enjoy when they need to take their minds off of studying for a bit. Don’t get stuck in the library all day and miss out on those opportunities.
