Opportunities

Businesses and jobs are now more globally connected than ever before and the bond is only getting stronger. Studying abroad and gaining knowledge about different countries will put you at the forefront of opportunities when searching for a career. It will help you stand out from the crowd. You can bring different thoughts and ideas to the table. Nowadays companies look for people who can expand their company’s diversity and culture.

Also, traveling while overseas is much cheaper than traveling from the states. The opportunity to experience things and places you’ve never dreamt you’d ever get the chance to do is an incredible feeling.

Growth and Self Actualization

I’m studying abroad in the very small town of Trujillo, Spain. Never in a million years would I have predicted myself to leave my comfort bubble that is Charleston. I had not taken in a Spanish class in over a year since coming to Trujillo, and now I am living in the home of a local Spanish family. This trip has taught me so much about the type of person I am and what my values are. Traveling throughout Europe has improved my communication abilities, my relativism. I feel braver and mentally stronger. I feel independent and self-sufficient. Of course, every experience is different.

Do It for the Culture

The world is becoming more interconnected than ever before. People of all different backgrounds and ethnicities are migrating all over the world. It’s important to familiarize ourselves with the different ways of life and living. We as a society should educate ourselves on the various cultures and values that exist across the world. Throughout history, cultures across all spectrums have influenced one another. Once we begin to understand different cultures and find similarities, we will be growing a more sensible generation.

Plus, who doesn’t want to try traditional foods and snacks from around the world?
