The Coronavirus quarantine has left us trapped inside of our houses with a serious case of cabin fever. Since it does not look like COVID-19 will disappear any time soon, I’ve compiled a list of stuff to watch to keep yourself occupied.

Little Fires Everywhere

Little Fires Everywhere follows Mia (Kerry Washington) and Elena (Reese Witherspoon), two mothers whose lives become intertwined when Mia and her 15-year-old daughter move to the upscale suburban town of Shaker Heights. Every character seems to have a secret or a mysterious past that is slowly uncovered as the storyline approaches the night that the Richardson family’s home is set ablaze with people inside.

I am surprised that there is not more hype around this show! So far, it is fantastic. The story not only shows racial and sexual tensions among the adults but teenagers. If I have not convinced you yet, watch it for the 90s fashion alone!

1917

Before you skip over this because it’s about WW1, hear me out. I was not exactly enthused when I found out this was the family’s pick on movie night, but I was surprised by how riveting it was. The story follows two British soldiers who must cross over enemy territory to deliver a message to their fellow troops that will save the lives of 1600 men, one of whom is the brother of one of the messengers. And hey, even if history and action aren’t your things, the cast is full of studs.

Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem, and Madness

This already has a lot of hype around it, but for a good reason. I am not very far into it, so I cannot give a descriptive summary, but this gets crazy!

All American

I am not very far into this either, but it gives me Friday Night Lights vibes. It follows a high school football player from South Los Angeles who gets recruited to play on a Beverly Hills team and has to adjust to a very different world.

Friday Night Lights

This might be my favorite show of all time. If you like All American, you’ll love this. The show follows an all-star high school football team in Texas as they pursue the state championship title. I love this because it depicts being young so accurately, but it also will make you laugh, cry, and wish you went to high school at Dillon (even if you don’t like sports).

The Case Against Adnan Syed

Whether you are a fervent listener of the famed Serial podcast or just fascinated by true crime, this will keep you on the edge of your seat. In 1999, Adnan Syed was convicted for the murder of his girlfriend, Hae Min Lee. You won’t know what or who to believe as they present the evidence and exclusively interview people from both sides of the case. There might be an innocent guy in jail!

13th

I might be joining this bandwagon a little late, but everyone needs to watch this. You’ll be a more informed person just by watching it. The documentary examines the disturbing history of criminalizing black people and the booming prison industry. The director, Ava DuVernay, is woke.

John Mulaney: Kid Gorgeous at Radio City

If you need a pick-me-up, this guy knows how to do it. John Mulaney is hilarious and super charming. You’ll fall in love with him just by watching. If you can’t get enough of him, he has two other stand-up shows and stars in the adult cartoon Big Mouth on Netflix.

Looking for Alaska

Calling all John Green fans! As a huge fan of the book, I was surprised by how much I loved this adaptation. I thought the show would be disappointing, but it definitely exceeded my expectations.

Disney+ Live Action Remakes

Disney has remade Beauty and the Beast, The Lion King, Aladdin, and a whole bunch of others, and they’re are all on Disney+. My sister and I have been comparing the remakes to the originals and we feel like kids again.

Hopefully, these gems will keep you occupied for a while. Stay safe everyone!
