You know those nights where you just lie in bed and daydream about every moment you hope to experience in your life one day? Or those days in class (everyday don’t lie) when your mind drifts away from the formula on the board that will never make sense, to the dreams that you have had since you were a little girl? I am no exception to this; in fact, sometimes I think I should just figure out a way to live in my day dreams, considering I spend most of my time there. So, if you don’t mind me taking a moment of your time I would really love to share something with you, and hopefully at the end of it all, encourage you to do whatever it takes to make your dreams come true.

Ever since I can remember, being in front of the camera, or behind it was all that I ever wanted. I had to have my hands on our bulky 2001 video camera, videotaping and narrating every move that my brand new baby brother made. But of course, once I felt that he had had enough camera time, my chubby four-toothed face would make its debut in our ever so famous Town Family Home Videos for the umpteenth time. Every entrance was the same; I said my name ever so obnoxiously, shot the camera a cheesy smile and struck a pose.

To this day when my family reminisces on our home movies I am on constantly on the prowl, prepared to jump up and fast forward the videos I made in my bedroom singing every Hilary Duff song known to earth, and telling whoever I decided was my entertainment idol of that week who I was and what I wanted. Every recording I had a few more teeth, or a few less depending on what grew and what I lost, gained a few more inches, and unfortunately a few more puberty pounds, but the one thing that never changed was what I wanted, and that was to be a star.

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

“I want to be famous, I want to be in the entertainment industry because I belong in that world and I want to be someone people can look up to, so that I can tell them dreams really do come true and to never give up”

“You know that, that is one in a million, right?”

“Yes, I know, but I am going to be that one.”

I remember that conversation by heart because I had it, what seemed to be at least a thousand times. Of course we are often distracted from our dreams, or discouraged from them, and I am no stranger to that. Setting a large goal for yourself is terrifying because no one enjoys the idea of failure, so sometimes it is just easier to set the bar low for ourselves so that we do not have to experience disappointment. But I think we should set goals bigger than ourselves, bigger than what we are capable of so that we can constantly strive to better ourselves, and with each accomplishment believe in ourselves a little bit more. It does not matter what your dreams are, because no dream is too big or too small, because your dream is yours and that is what is most important. Do not let anyone discourage you from where you want to go, who you want to be, or what you want to do.

Like I have said in my older articles, we have the entire world ahead of us with opportunities knocking at every single door, so answer a few of them and see where they can take you. I have had a dream my entire life, I want to be a part of one of the most powerful and fascinating industries in my eyes, I want to stop having imaginary interviews with Ellen DeGeneres and have a real life one (hopefully I can contain my tears of joy), I want to put down my hometown baseball trophy, and hold up a Peoples Choice Award and thank all of those who supported my dream, I want to make it in this business, and I want to have a stronger voice so that I can encourage all children, teenagers and even adults to follow their dreams too.

So for all of you who have a dream, follow it.

For all of you who do not have a dream, find one and put your soul into it.

For all of you who are making your dreams come true, I applaud you.

Lastly, for all of you reading please be a part of making my dreams come true so that one day I can encourage others to make their dreams come true, too.
