Charmed: Fall’s New Show to Watch

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C Mich chapter.

With the leaves changing color and flavors changing to pumpkin, it’s clear that fall has ~officially~ arrived. If you’re anything like me, or the general college-aged population, fall is the perfect time to decorate your apartment and watch some spooky shows with your roommates. Lucky for all of us, the CW is premiering the perfect new show for the season, its reboot of the classic witchy drama, Charmed.

Charmed became my favorite of all favorite TV shows in the 6th grade, when I impulse bought the first two seasons on DVD without seeing a single episode. I instantly fell in love with the show, and continued to buy the remaining six seasons over the course of the next couple of years. Fortunately for all of you, it’s not 2010 anymore and Netflix is a thing, so if you want to binge on all eight seasons this month, I would highly recommend you do so.

For anyone who is uncultured and doesn’t know what the show is about, it follows three sisters living in San Francisco in the late 90s who have recently discovered that they are actually witches. Not just any witches, but the most powerful witches basically ever!! Very intense, very exciting. The show follows their lives as they figure out how to be kick-ass witches, while also trying to balance their love lives and careers. But, most importantly, it focuses on their bond as sisters that support each other no matter what AKA strong women supporting strong women AKA what we are here for.

The new reboot is going to follow the same format, but with a new set of main characters. The show has also added some much needed diversity to the sisters, both in terms of race and sexual orientation. Nothing will take the place of the original, but hopefully the new creators will be able to capture what was so magical about the first show and portray it in a way that reaches a whole new generation.

So, grab your roomies, light some candles, and tune in to the CW on Sunday, October 14th at 9 pm to watch the premiere.
