10 Pieces of Life Advice from The Real Housewives

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at C Mich chapter.

Reality T.V. has been giving us a peak into other people’s lives for years. One of the more popular reality series can be dated back to 2006, and has been filmed in seven different cities. You guessed it right – The Real Housewives. This reality show makes its name by filming women located in affluent neighborhoods, while showcasing all the drama and luxury they experience. Though college girls are far from living this lifestyle (at least for the time being) we can learn a lot from these women! Here are the 10 best pieces of life advice that the housewives have to offer!

1. Be yourself. At the end of the day, all you can be is yourself. Though you may not be as outlandish as these women, there will always be someone out there that’s not going to like you, and to those people you have to say:

2. Be careful who you trust. You’ll always run into people that you know aren’t good for you, but you just can’t resist. Whether it’s the bad boy you’ve always dreamed of or maybe a new friend that makes a few too many questionable decisions…just be careful of these people.

3. Steer clear of drama. If it’s not your problem, stay out of it. College is the time to go to class, have fun, and surround yourself with things that will only make your life more positive. If drama starts to surface, there’s always a way out.

4. Don’t start drama. If you have an issue with someone, you need to either let it go or tell them. Nothing good will ever come out of talking about someone behind their back (besides issues that could have been easily avoided).

5. Give everything a chance. Whether it’s a meeting, a party, a class, or the gym -just go! We often find ourselves saying, “Oh, it’s fine, I think I’ll just stay home.” Well, DON’T! You’ll never know what could happen unless you go.

6. Find inspiration in as many things as possible. Whether you’re deciding your profession or dancing for fun, find someone that you aspire to be like.

7. Love yourself. You could be admiring your outfit before you head to class, or coming back from a super sweaty workout. Either way, you need to tell yourself you look hot every once in a while.

8. Enter every year/semester with a good attitude. In fact, always look at everything with a positive mindset. If you enter every new year, semester, or day thinking that something is going to go wrong, it probably will.

9. Take everything with a light heart. You’re going to meet a lot of different people with a lot of different opinions. If you let all of them get to you, you’re going to lose a lot of friends. So when someone says something, laugh it off!

10. Get yourself moving. Though this one was probably meant metaphorically, it can be taken literally. Running is a great way to relieve stress and stay healthy!

Even if you don’t dream of being a real housewife when you grow up, we could all take some of this advice to live day-to-day.
