Spring semester is in full swing, exams every week, any chance of following the syllabus has gone straight out the window and you have more homework than you ever thought possible. Never fear… coffee is here! Check out these 10 local coffee joints that are so ~aesthetic~ they might just help you get back into your groove.  

 

  1. Coat Check Coffee

Distance from Campus: 5.9 miles (12 minute drive)

Price: $$

Food: Mostly baked goods, GF and Vegan options

Hours: Monday – Friday: 7am to 7pm, Saturday and Sunday: 8am to 6pm

Parking: I usually park at the meters on Mass Ave, other street parking available ($7ish)

Ambiance:

  • Lots of seating and outlets, with lots of natural light

  • Big armchairs and side tables as well

  • Near Mass Ave so it can get a bit noisy on the weekends, but perfect for an afternoon study sesh.

  1. Quills Coffee

Distance from Campus: 5 miles (10 minute drive)

Price: $$

Food: Bagels, donuts and a few other baked goods, GF and vegan options

Hours: Mon-Thurs: 6:30am to 6pm, Fri: 6:30am to 7pm, Sat-Sun: 8am to 7pm

Parking: Attached parking garage and some meter lot parking ($5ish)

Ambiance:

  • Located on the first floor of an apartment building so people are often coming in and out (sometimes with their dogs!)

  • Big study rooms with whiteboards, great for group projects

  • A few longer tables and a bar with stools and tons of outlets

  • Couches and armchairs with a low coffee table for ~lounge~ studying

  1. Hubbard and Cravens Coffee Co.

Distance from Campus: 0.6 miles (2 minute drive, 15 minute walk)

Food: Breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, baked goods, GF and Vegan options

Hours: Mon-Fri: 5:30am to &7pm, Sat: 6am to 7pm, Sun: 7am to 5pm

Parking: Private lot, FREE!

Ambiance:

  • Lots of tables, big and small and some booth seating

  • Longer tables in the front of the store

  • Outside seating

  • Can get busy during meal times, but usually pretty quiet otherwise

  • Nice bar seating and plenty of tables

Ambiance:

  • Pretty limited seating, but wonderful when you can find a spot

  • Board games for when you need a study break

  • Tables by main window have great selfie lighting

  • Totally gentrified garage/old airplane hanger(?)

  • Good amount of seating, but not a ton of outlets

  • Quiet but not, like, aggressively quiet

Food: Baked goods, egg dishes, salads and sandwiches, desserts, GF and vegan options

Ambiance:

  • Plenty of seating with outlets

  • Self-serve hot coffee

  • Oldies bops always playing

  • Closes early on Sundays

Ambiance:

  • Relatively no seating, kind of a grab and go place, but the coffee is so good you won’t even care!

Food: full brunch menu, pastries, GF and vegan options

Hours: M, W,Th, F, S, S: 7am to 3pm

Parking: Lot and street parking

Ambiance:

  • Pretty busy during brunch times, but go early enough and you’ve got a table all day

  • Usually less crowded on weekdays

  • Croissants and coffee make the perfect “I’m gonna finish this paper if it kills me” snack

Ambiance:

  • A great place to stay and work all day since you can get actual food with your coffee (and some froyo!)

  • Big tables and lots of group seating options

  • Not a ton of lighting so it can get dark sometimes if you sit near the back

  • 10/10 fresh fruits at froyo topping stand
