List Your Assignments

To keep yourself organized I recommend listing all of your assignments and when they are due in an excel spreadsheet. This has helped me many times, especially during turbulent times such as midterms and finals. You can also organize the spreadsheet to list the assignments by their due date so you know exactly when to complete them.

Meal Prep

Being a college student means that a busy life is a part of the territory. Balancing classes, clubs, and jobs make finding time to put together meals very hard. I would recommend planning your meals a couple of days ahead. Whether that means every Sunday, prepping for the week, or just the night before, this could take some stress off your shoulders.

do not Procrastinate

I am the biggest procrastinator so I know exactly what it feels like to get very overwhelmed with my assignments. The best thing to do to start your school year off on the right foot is to do all of your assignments as you get them. I will be honest and say that I have a really hard time doing this. If you can, break through any procrastination habits you have by completing your assignments ASAP, your stress level will decrease by a lot.

Reach Out to Your Professors

A new semester means new professors for the most part. Office hours are there for a reason so I recommend introducing yourself to your professors and going to office hours with questions about the homework. If a professor knows you personally they will be more willing to help you with things like assignments, projects, and extensions.

Take Time For Yourself

Starting school means a lot of stress and anxiety. Something very important to do is to take breaks as needed and give your mental health a break. If an assignment or paper is too overwhelming, put it down and take a break. Watch a movie, go for a walk, eat something. You can only do your best work when you are not drowning in stress.
