Sigourney’s Quote to live by: “Why look at people as obstacles when you can make them opportunities? Networking is key.”

Sigourney Weaver (Yes that’s her real name ladies!), is all around one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet at Buffalo State. You probably have met her too. Also known around campus as “Siggy”, her upbeat personality is one of her well known qualities that make her stand out as this week’s Buffalo State Campus Celebrity.
While majoring in Public Communication, and being the Vice President of the Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc., she has a lot on her plate.  Sigourney takes it stride and does not break a sweat like the classy woman that she is. Sigourney values the importance of an education for everyone. That is why she is a motivational speaker for the Department of Education as an advocate for homeless youth where she speaks at administrative trainings all over the United States. With her positive outlook, she is helping people through tough obstacles by letting them know it gets better in time. With this advice, she inspires young adults who can follow through with an education as their key to success. Everyone in the world needs a person like that as a strong support system and for them to have Sigourney as their guide, they are very lucky.
With Sigourney being on the executive board of the Gamma Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, Sorority Inc., she is involved in multiple charitable events. Sigourney is currently helping to facilitate with her organization their annual Penny Drive where all of the proceeds collected goes towards the Shelley A. Harte Scholarship fund that helps high school students in need of money to attend college. Sigourney stated “My duty as a member of my community is to live every moment to the fullest and make a difference in the lives of many.”
Sigourney is your all around spunky girl that knows how to hit a task with full force. Her determination to make a difference in lives shines over any negative thing. If you see her around campus (which you will collegiettes!), she will not turn you away.
