Hey Ladies, this week we wanted to spot light someone that is not only a campus cutie but a very well distinguished member of a Fraternity on campus. Here’s a bit about him:

Name: Julian A. Cepeda

Age: 21

Class Status: Senior

Major: Health & Wellness

Zodiac Sign: Pieces

Relationship Status: Single

Favorite Food: Grilled Lobster

Favorite Movie: Fight Club & Remember Me

Favorite Sport: Baseball

Ideal Girl: My ideal girl isn’t anyone specific, my ideal woman is an independent woman who is beautiful and knows that she needs no man to stand on her two feet to be successful or accomplish anything in life, but knows that one day she will find a man to protect her morals and values. I hope that ideal woman knows it’s going to be me to do all that for her, and more…

Ideal Date: Carnival

If you could have any super power what would it be any why?  “Super Speed, I’ve always liked running when I was kid and even today I still like to jog to get to my destination, and I think it would be really cool to run across water.”

HC: What is the name of your Frat?

Julian: Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc.

HC: Who holds what position in your chapter?

Julian: I am the president of my chapter, my chapters name is the Kyodrowe Chapter of Lambda Sigma Upsilon Latino Fraternity, Inc. My vice president & social chair is Jonathan Ramos, my treasurer is Felix Santana, and my secretary is Rene Montalvo.

HC: What Is your frats foundation?

Julian: The foundation of my fraternity is based upon 4 goals, they are:

Academic Excellence

Cultural Awareness

Being a role model to the schools and the communities

Brotherhood

It is through these four principals that we as “Upsilon” men try to live by to better the people around us, the communities, but most of all ourselves.

HC: When and where was your frat founded?

Julian: We were founded in April 5, 1979 in Rutgers University; New Brunswick, NJ on Livingston campus by 20 men of Latino descent.

HC: What’s the moto/slogan of your frat?

Julian: Too Hype! Smooth.

HC: What differentiates you from other fraternities?

Julian: What makes us different?

What separates my organization from others is we do not follow the Greek system, meaning we do not call our chapters or our lines; alpha, beta, delta, etc. we identify ourselves by our process and the story that is told within it. My organizations foundation comes from the history of the Taino’s who once inhibited this land and had leaders such as Kacike’s & Bohike’s.

HC: Why did you join?

Julian: I did my research and felt as though the rich history within my organization defined me better than any other organization could, and the brothers within this chapter were leaders on campus that I wanted to see myself as down the road in my life and coming into my organization and being a member for 2 years now I can say it was the 2nd best decision of my life; the 1st was coming to Buffalo State College.

HC: What is your line name?

Julian: My Line is the Hades Line. My individual name is Ismenius.

HC: What’s the best part about being in a frat?

Julian: Best part of being in a fraternity?

No inflation on club parties, just kidding. Some of the most incredible things about being Greek and being a part of my fraternity is understanding who I am and knowing my roots, and what it means to truly be Dominican and Puerto Rican and not just say those countries because my family comes from there but to be culturally aware of the history that comes from both places. Another great thing about being Greek is being able to connect with other people both inside and outside my organization and being able to connect with them through experience and through the knowledge gained while being involved in the new member intake process; it’s truly a beautiful experience, one I wouldn’t change for the world.
