Gabrielle Santos (no relation!) is a bright, motivated young woman with a flavor for life and a fresh curiosity for the world around her. Gabrielle is a junior at Buffalo State majoring in Economics which keeps her clicking at her calculator all the time! Although she works hard on her studies, she still has time to participate with organizations such as Alpha Sigma Tau. Gabrielle has been a sister since 2010 and was Vice President of Buffalo State’s Sigma Chapter during Spring semester 2011. When asked about her position and involvement in Alpha Sigma Tau Gabrielle stated, “I love Alpha Sigma Tau! It has helped me to become a better woman and become responsible, not only for myself, but for my sisters as well. The Vice President position I previously held enabled me to become organized, respectable, and above all mature.”
Gabrielle’s passion does not end with Alpha Sigma Tau; she also lends a hand in beneficial projects such as Habitat for Humanity, an organization that creates homes to maintain affordable living within the Buffalo community. Gabrielle also participated in Christmas Shop, an event where she distributed donated gifts to underprivileged children throughout the surrounding Buffalo neighborhoods. Gabrielle gushes about the event stating, “It was an eye opening experience to see children without gifts for Christmas. The event helped me to remain humble in my own life and continue aiding young children wherever possible.”
Gabrielle is optimistic with the dream to become a financial adviser for low-income families and author a column in The Wall Street Journal on ways to become a smart shopper in this struggling economy.
