Erica Greene: The Volunteer Maiden

Have you ever met a person on campus that is always on the go while being everywhere all at the same time? That is the case with Erica Greene, also known on campus as “Twitter”. Her bubbly, upbeat personality can be found at many of the events held on the Buff State campus on a daily basis. As a journalism major and the recruitment chair for the Sigma Chapter of the Alpha Sigma Tau National Sorority at Buffalo State College, she has a lot on her plate, but handles everything with grace and poise.
 
She has been a sister in Alpha Sigma Tau for almost three years and has enjoyed every moment.  While representing her pride for her organization and for Buffalo State, Erica said, “AST is the oldest Greek lettered organization on BSC campus, being founded in 1899 but, we were also the first sorority to establish a chapter here on Buff State soil in 1925 and I feel honored to be a part of this organization and this campus.“
Erica is also very involved with many community projects. She does volunteer work with the Inter-Greek Association, where they have planned many events like the Breast Cancer Walk, March of Dimes, and a multitude of clothing and food drives for people in need.  She also does volunteer work for an organization called the Pearls of Wisdom Tutoring Group, where she tutors students, assists with homework and overall helps them excel at their schoolwork. Erica said, “This is my favorite organization to work with. The gift of knowledge is a gift that comes with time and is passed on to others.”
           
Every event that has happened in the past few weeks of school, Erica has had a hand in. She works closely with the Buffalo State College Student Life office. Her main duties include being the main liaison between Student Life and Greek organizational affairs as well as an organizer of the “Weeks of Welcome” program of events that last until homecoming weekend. As you can see, Erica is very busy, but remains an approachable person with a big heart. You can find her anywhere on the Buffalo State campus, wearing her green and yellow with a big smile on her face.
