This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

What makes a writer? A title? A name?

How about the person and not their rank of fame?

Writers may come in all shapes and sizes,

Some have alter-egos and even disguises.

I like to write, and you may say, “ Why?”

I will tell you all the reasons that fairly apply!

When I was little, I loved books that rhymed,

And pretty soon after, my interest in writing had climbed.

I started with my classes, writing essays on books,

That I didn’t always enjoy but would read and get hooked.

My passion for writing came from my reading,

And I’m thankful for that, though that may seem misleading.

Writing is a passion that relaxes my mind,

And I like to write whenever I have free time.

It may be in a journal or typed on a computer,

Any way it is written could not be cuter.

(I’ll let you in on a hint: I think rhyming is fun,

And that’s why I wrote this poem, but don’t tell anyone).

Now, I study computer science and French,

But I never let my other interests put writing to the bench.

In high school I only wrote essays and papers,

But now at Bucknell, I write for something like a newspaper.

I joined Her Campus, the site this poem is on,

And it’s full of cool articles that won’t make you yawn.

The members of our team let their creativity flow,

And write all their thoughts for you to know.

We all have our passions, not one always like the other,

But we all find our thing one way or another.

If you like to write or just want to try,

Apply to Her Campus and let your ideas fly!

Writing is a form where we express all our feelings,

It’s even a way you can break the glass-ceiling.

It helps to make you feel empowered,

And even blossoms your skills like a pretty flower.

You can write a rhyme, essay or satire,

It will help your creativity get higher.

I wrote this poem to share with you my passion

So that you know I mean this with compassion:

It may be a little late to apply this semester,

But keep an eye out for our next application and don’t let your anticipation fester!

Thank you for reading my poem today!

All I will tell you is I hope you consider what I had to say :)
