Billboard Names Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines” as Song of the Summer

Coming as no surprise, “Blurred Lines” (featuring T.I. and Pharrell) officially claimed Billboard’s “Song of the Summer” title.

The hit first shot to the number one spot on the Hot 100 chart during the week of June 22. The single dominated the charts for the following 12 weeks before ultimately falling to Katy Perry’s newest single “Roar.”

The catchy track ties with two former songs for most weeks at the number one spot: “We Belong Together” by Mariah Carey from 2005 and “The Boy is Mine” by Brandy & Monica from 1998.

War on Syria?

Will there be missile strikes on Syria? Although President Obama has reached a conclusion, lawmakers are still undecided.

President Obama urges a limited-strike military intervention in reaction to President Bashar al-Assad’s use of chemical weapons. While critics express desire for a stronger American involvement to end Syria’s two-and-a-half-year-old civil war, representatives say that both Democrats and Republicans articulated opposition to any intervention.

To make matters worse, the United States struggles to find a definitive ally. Israel, the only ally thus far, believes that a stalemate may be the best option.

Will there be any progress?  We will have to wait and see.
