Springtime in Lewisburg

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.

It is officially spring here in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and Bucknell students are embracing it with open arms. When the weather hits fifty degrees and the sun begins to peek out from behind the clouds, students come together on the main quad to relax and soak up some rays. However, this is only one of the many activities students choose to participate in with their friends on a warm day on campus. But if you are new to Bucknell’s campus, or even a busy upperclassman who hasn’t had much time to explore the Lewisburg area, we put together a list of great activities students have loved in order to celebrate the beginning of summer!

Enjoy A Sweet Treat

Sweet Frog and Mae’s Drive-In are both an easy walking distance from Bucknell’s campus. There, students can enjoy frozen yogurt or an ice cream sundae along with some well needed fresh air. Additionally, if you are feeling adventurous, Purple Cow has fresh soft-serve ice cream and is only a five-minute car ride.

Walk the Rail Trail

If the warm weather motivates you to get active, the Rail Trail is an awesome place to check out. A 15-minute walk or a two-minute card ride from campus, the Rail Trail is a popular spot for Bucknell students and townees. On a warm day you will find tons of people walking, running, and biking along the Rail Trail

Quad Activities

Bucknell’s main attraction is its beautiful quad right at the heart of campus. On a nice day, you will most likely see a large number of students playing spike ball, frisbee, or softball, doing homework, hanging out with friends, enjoying lunch or dinner, taking a nap, tanning, and most importantly, if it’s a clear night, watching the sunset

Eat Dinner Outside

The Lewisburg area has a number of delicious restaurants of all different cuisines for students to try. If you are looking for recommendations for outdoor seating, check out Bull Run, Siam, Grams, Amami, La Primavera, Jackass, and Brasserie Louis!

Check Out The Local Farmers Market

Pennsylvania is known for its booming Amish and Mennonite population, many of which have stands at the farmer’s market. Located near the Rail Trail and Jackass, the farmer’s market has delicious and fresh foods many students choose to indulge in. They are open on Wednesdays and Saturdays and have options ranging from whoopie pies, doughnuts, meats, cheeses, pizza, sandwiches, eggs, fruits and vegetables, cheesecake, cotton candy, and flowers!
