1000 Awesome Things About Bucknell

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at Bucknell chapter.
When your To Do list is growing faster than you can write, it’s easy to get into the routine of complaining. We can start picking up on more negative parts of our days; anything that gives us the excuse to say “Well, isn’t this perfect.” But amongst the buzz of pessimism, there are quite a few untouchable aspects that come with being a student at Bucknell. These aspects stop our self-pity trains in their tracks by being totally and incredibly awesome. This blog will serve as a reminder of such things!

Awesome Thing #1 – The Rooke Chapel Bells
You could’ve sworn you hit the snooze and not the off button on your alarm, your closet is full of clothes you’re just not feeling today, the line at 7th St Café is way too long – and now you are bolting to class – trying to make your sprint look as casual as possible.  You know the race is on between you and those bells. Somehow you miraculously make it to your class before the chiming begins! You sit in your seat (praying the air conditioning is still on in September) and appreciate –  what could have been a rude reality check is now a beautiful audio reminder that you have made it to your class on time!
Another awesome part about the Rooke Chapel Bells is the completely effortless way they countdown your class time.  Your professor totally can tell when you’re looking at the clock or glancing at your phone. And when you do try to stealthily get away with it, doesn’t it seem as if only a minute has passed? Thanks to the wonderful chiming you can immediately tell whether it’s a new hour, a quarter past, a half hour, or a quarter to! No sneaky moves necessary! When you hear that there’s only seven minutes left till the end of class, take note of your professor – chances are he or she couldn’t help but register this awesome information as well.
Awesome Thing #2 – The Lewisburg Community
There are tons of great things about Lewisburg but one that stands out is the sense of community.  The flood turned downtown Lewisburg into a giant swamp. Zelda’s is one of the businesses that have yet to reopen. However, this sign can be seen outside the building! How cool is that?!

The lovely people of Brasserie Louis helped out Zelda’s so that they could still make a profit regardless of being evacuated! And during Parent’s Weekend which normally would’ve meant an absolutely packed restaurant for Zelda’s! That type of selflessness and consideration is pretty awesome.

Born and raised in suburban Philadelphia, she is a member of Delta Gamma sorority and recently spent a semester abroad in London (tea and scones galore!). Her favorite things include (but are not limited to) anything with the word "coffee" in it, her two shih tzus, peppermint gum, reality tv, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys experimenting in the kitchen, dancing, staying active, and singing. Her claim to fame? She was a street shoutout on the show "Cash Cab".
