Why You’re Never Too Old To Believe In The Easter Bunny

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

No matter what the reason for celebration, Easter is a holiday that commercialized America has turned into a day chock full of pastel colors, spring weather, and yet another excuse to eat chocolate. There are those that will say they are too old for a visit from the Easter bunny or to smile at Easter baskets full of goodies, or even join the younger kids for an egg hunt in the backyard, but have no fear. We here at Her Campus are letting you know its okay to get excited for all the following Easter Sunday traditions because nothing is wrong with staying young at heart!

Easter Baskets

No matter the size, pastel color, or contents, Easter baskets on Sunday morning are the springtime version of Christmas presents under the tree. Whether your parents still leave you baskets in the living room wrapped intricately in shiny cellophane and ribbon, or you get a chocolate bunny and plastic eggs filled with money, or gifts from the Easter bunny, this is the sure sign you are loved this springtime.

Chocolate Bunnies and Cadbury Eggs

There has never been a better excuse to eat an entire chocolate statue of a bunny rabbit or eat 20 chocolate crème eggs. Sunday is the day we all wake up with thoughts of having a nice brunch. And this Sunday brunch is the only one that includes chocolate eggs and baby pink puffy pastries.  The best part? The days leading up to Easter welcome the delivery of small shiny wrapped eggs and chocolate bunnies of various sizes. If people are giving, you’re most definitely taking…it’s Easter time!

The Sign Of Springtime

For us here in the frozen Tundra of Boston, this Easter we will be crossing our fingers for a wave of warm air and the promise of a turnover into the spring season in the northeast. The trees start to grow their green leaves, flowers start to bloom and the sun suddenly appears after months of hibernation. Let’s hope this Easter brings all these joyful signs of spring and we don’t have a snow bunny Sunday.

Pastel Wardrobe

White pants and a pale pink top, lilac sundresses, baby blue skirts. The warm colors of spring are upon us and Easter is the perfect excuse to pop on that new flowy faded yellow dress and a pair of nude wedges. Whether you celebrate Easter or not, this day seems to be the kick off to a season of shades like periwinkle and peony pink and with those colors comes the happiness of warm weather. Say “so long!” to tall snow boots and “Greetings!” to effortless flats and flip flops.

Egg Decoration and Hunts

Bust out those egg-decorating kits your long-distance family sent, or your mom picked up at CVS because she thought it would be, “ a fun family activity,” hard-boil those eggs and tap into your inner Martha Stewart. Not only is egg-decorating fun to do, it’s also an excuse to contribute to the family celebration.  And no Easter is complete without an egg hunt. You know that activity that usually makes little kids go nuts searching for plastic egg containers that contain mini Cadbury eggs or maybe even some snazzy gold coins! Usually past the age of 15 most will roll their eyes at this childish activity but hey, you’re never too old to participate if it involves money, chocolate and beating out little kids who don’t know the first thing about competition! Happy Hunting!
