Why I’m Obsessed with Jackets for this Fall Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Fall means a lot of things — pumpkin spice lattes, apple picking, leaves falling, and most importantly fall fashion. In the past, this fully embodied the idea of sweater weather for me. I would stock up on cute sweaters and not really worry about what I was going to layer them with. But this year, I’ve changed my position: I realized how I can wear all of my spring/summer tops throughout the fall and complete the looks with a cute jacket.

I love fuzzy jackets, like this black one from Show Me Your Mumu. I rented it from Rent the Runway and I’m convinced it’s actually a blanket disguised as a coat. It’s a perfect length to cozy up in and shield yourself from the cold, and it’s so cute. Living in the city also means a lot of walking, and I like layering with jackets because you aren’t stuck in a heavy, unbreathable outfit all day long. If it gets too hot from moving around, you can take off the jacket. It’s the perfect street style and any jacket that makes a t-shirt and jeans combo look fancy is a must for me.

I really like layer darker basics with a slightly lighter jacket, like this grey one from Primark. This jacket can really be professional or casual, and the openness of it makes it super stylish, 24/7. These jackets are perfect for everyday wear. I sport these looks to class, shopping, work, or hanging out with friends. You really can’t go wrong with soft jackets because they look professional, fashionable, and are so comfy.

As for going out, I love leather jackets. There’s the go-to black staple jacket (the one here is from Forever 21), but also ones that are totally unique like this red one (Primark), and this star one (NastyGal).

No matter the occasion this fall, grab a comfy coat or jacket to spice up your look. Stay on-trend, and stay warm.
