The Ultimate Boston University Bucket List

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

College truly is one of the greatest experiences of our lives, and with so little time to get the most out of it, here is a list of things every BU student should do before graduation:

1. Study Abroad

It may sound obvious, but more people than you might think miss out on this experience. Even if you’re a freshman, it’s never too early to start planning ahead to ensure you’ll have enough time to take advantage of the once in a lifetime opportunity that is studying abroad. BU has some of the best programs in the country for going overseas, and it is a long-loved tradition here that the Study Abroad office will be more than happy to assist you with. Au revoir!

2. See a Beanpot game

The Beanpot is BU’s biggest sporting event of the year, and recently our Terriers have made it almost every single season, so you’re pretty much guaranteed at least one Beanpot during your time here. This event is truly the epitome of BU school spirit, and win or lose it’s always fun to see a game with your friends and classmates at the TD Garden, home of the Boston Bruins and Celtics.

3. Study at every BU library

This task is surely a huge feat if accomplished, as BU has libraries in so many buildings all across campus. However, if you stay dedicated to finding all of them, you might just luck out and discover the perfect (and not crowded) study spot for finals week.

4. Go to a Red Sox game

This is a right of passage for any student going to school in Boston. The Red Sox are the spirit of this town and Fenway Park is it’s heart. There is no better way or place to experience what Boston really feels like. So sit back with some friends, grab a beer or a Fenway Frank, and watch our boys take down the Yankees with ease. Pro tip: By being a student you can sign up for the Student 9’s, which lets you get tickets for certain games for just $9.00!

5. Visit the MFA for free

With your BU ID, you can get into the Museum of Fine Arts for free! Even if you only take advantage of this crazy perk once, it will be well worth your time. BU students also get into the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum for free! This is a definite must on a quiet weekend day, and it’s well worth the short T ride over.

6. The beloved Allston Crawl

Ah yes, the Allston Crawl. Every freshman does it, and loves it. This is another one of those monumental traditions at BU that you just can’t pass up. Bonus points if you stop by T Anthony’s when you’re done for some late night Mozzarella Stick Pizza.

7. See the beaches in Cape Cod

As a native New Englander I may be slightly biased, but Cape Cod has some of the nicest and most beautiful beaches on the entire East Coast. If your friend has a car, hop in the backseat and head off for a day trip, or if you don’t know anyone with a car on campus rent one for the day! There is seriously nothing else like Cape Cod, and it’s too close to Boston to pass up.

8. Experience MarMon the BU way

Marathon Monday has to be the craziest day at Boston University of the entire year. If you’re old enough to drink (and probably even if you aren’t), the party will start within hours of waking up and won’t stop until well after the sun goes down. Don’t get too caught up in the party though, because it’s definitely worth it to head over to the finish line if you can one year to see the runners finish the race!

9. Take a Duck Tour

Yes, you’ll feel like one of those annoying tourists and, yes, you’ll look like one too. But Duck Tours are another must-do in Boston, and there’s no better way to see the beauty of the city than in a ten-foot-tall boatmobile with a tour guide making cheesy jokes and spewing historical facts at you from the wheel. Trust me, you’ll love it.

10. Step on the BU Seal

After you graduate, it’s finally time. Head on over to Marsh Plaza and stomp all over the seal that you so dutifully avoided for four years! Make sure to snap some cute pics too, because this is a satisfying memory that will last forever.

So there you have it! These are the top ten essential things you should check off your bucket list before graduation. Feel free to add or replace things on this list to make it totally perfect for you! Enjoy!
