I have been ready for the new seasons of my favorite shows since the season finales before the summer started. And finally, the time has arrived. I’m ready for my weekly intake of hot vampires, funny cops, freaky circus acts, and much more. But of course, there’s more than just the tried and true, so here’s a detailed guide for what to have on your radar this fall TV-wise.

Old Favorites:

Guilty Pleasure: The Vampire Diaries (Oct. 2, 8 p.m.  on The CW.)

As the seventh season finally arrives, Damon is stuck on the Other Side leaving the prospect of Elena and Damon finally getting back together looking pretty bleak. Will this possible permanent separation mean Elena will return to her first love Stefan? Who knows, but you know I’m ready to get back to the extremely messed up small town of Mystic Falls and its extremely attractive inhabitants.

Pick Me Up: Brooklyn Nine-Nine (Sunday Sept. 28, 8:30 pm on Fox.)

Even though it’s sad to not have Andy Samberg on Saturday Night Live anymore, I’m glad I have Brooklyn Nine-Nine in my life. Having a bad day and want something positive, smart, and funny? Look no further than this hilarious and antic filled show. Other cast members like Chelsea Peretti makes it impossible to have the cold-weather/mid-terms blues.

Lolcatz: Bob’s Burgers (Sun. Oct 5, 7:30 p.m. on Fox.)

Probably one of the most underrated shows, Bob’s Burgers is comedy gold. It’s not the best idea to watch it in a public place as your cackling might alarm those around you. It’s close to impossible to pick a favorite character, as they’re all so unique and brilliant in their own ways. Furthermore, Tina Belcher might just be all of our spirit animals.

Current Events: Saturday Night Live (Saturday Sept. 27, 11:30 p.m. on NBC.)

Entering its 40th season, SNL has stood the test of time as a hilarious and satirical TV show. Get excited for hosts like Bill Hader who had a tearful farewell episode last year. And with new additions to the cast like Weekend Update anchor Michael Che (previously a Daily Show correspondent and SNL writer) and 20-year-old Pete Davidson, it’s looking to be an exciting new season.

Dramarama: Homeland (Sun Oct 5, 9 p.m. on Showtime.)

An incredible show that has nonstop action, Homeland’s fourth season will dive into significantly different storylines than the last three seasons mainly because of the departure of the character Nicholas Brody and Carrie’s possible promotion and motherhood. Not a show to watch for a night of unwinding, but a show that is sure to put you on the edge of your seat and have a few “holy sh*t” moments.

Watch with the Lights on: American Horror Story: Freakshow (Wed. Oct 8, 10 p.m. on FX.)

After the success of AHS Coven, the anticipation for Freakshow is almost tangible. The creepy new premise promises a season of chilling characters and cover-your-eyes visuals. God knows I will not be watching this show by myself. Or late at night.

Newbies:

Guilty Pleasure: Forever (Monday Sept. 22, 10 p.m. on ABC.)

Remember the guy from the live action 102 Dalmatians and then later on in The Fantastic Four? Well, it turns out his name is Ioan Gruffudd (his real name, I swear) and he has aged very well. His character Doctor Henry Morgan is the star medical examiner of New York and he has a secret. He’s immortal. What?! Who saw that coming? Cute guy + solving crimes + trying to figure out why he’s immortal = a great show.

Pick Me Up: A to Z (Thurs Oct. 2, 9:30 p.m. on NBC.)

While she may have played the infamous mother on How I Met Your Mother, Cristin Milioti doesn’t have to wait eight seasons to get some screen time. She stars alongside Ben Feldman in what appears basically to be a rom-com TV show (which sounds like a great thing). The show focuses on the meeting and subsequent relationship of Andrew (Feldman) and Zelda (Milioti) and how fate may or may not have an impact on all of us.

Lolcatz: Marry Me (Tuesday Oct 14, 9 p.m. on NBC.)

SNL alumna and former Happy Endings cast member, Casey Wilson stars as Annie, who met her current boyfriend, Jake (Ken Marino) while waiting for take out nachos (my dream way of meeting my boyfriend just FYI). Six years later, the two find themselves fighting over the next step: engagement.

Current Events: Madam Secretary (Sunday Sept 21, 8 p.m. on CBS.)

Ok you got me, this isn’t actually a current events show but you’ll most likely learn something about the inner workings of the US government and that’s always useful. But anywho, Téa Leoni (pretty much the female Nicholas Cage) depicts the struggle of balancing life while being a badass Secretary of State. Lots of tension and hard decisions to be made in this political drama are sure to get you hooked.

Dramarama: The Missing (Saturday Nov. 15, 10 p.m. on Starz.)

Eight years after the disappearance of his 5-year-old son while on vacation in France, Tony Hughes (played by James Nesbitt) still hasn’t given up on finding his son. With the help of a local police detective, Tony delves back into the dark and twisted theories of where his son is and who is responsible for his kidnapping.

Watch with the Lights on: Constantine (10 pm NBC. Friday Oct. 24)

Based on the DC Comic “Hellblazer,” this new show tells the story of seasoned demon hunter, Constantine and his disturbing enemies. With a soul already damned to hell (he never held the door for other people), he decides to fight the good fight after a series of events bring him face to face with his past. Prepare yourself for lots of demons escaped from hell that do not have good hygiene and will haunt your nightmares.
