“Hi, my name is Olivia, I’m a sophomore and I’m a transfer student,” is what I say basically every day when I meet someone new.
My transfer journey started around this time last year when I decided I was going to leave Suffolk University. I knew by this point last year that I was unhappy, and girl, if I’m paying that much money for school, I best be happy as a clam! So, I decided to peace out of Suffolk after the spring semester ended. It was scary, overwhelming, and yes, confusing!
I knew that Boston was the place for me from the very beginning, so of course, I applied to Boston University. Not only is BU an amazing school, but I had my little heart set on it for years. So, I worked my tail off spring semester at Suffolk, pulled out some good grades and a decent essay, and got into BU. Hallelujah!
Fast forward to the fall semester, I moved into my apartment at BU, started classes, and learned my way around my new home. At this point, it has only been about three months into the semester, but I know that I made the best decision. BU has been so good to me so far and I am forever grateful.
My advice to anyone out there thinking about transferring: don’t be afraid of a big decision like this. This is your life and you are in control of your own destiny.
So don’t be afraid to confront your feelings because that is truly how you will find your happiness.
