Top 5 Spots to Enjoy the View in Boston

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

Ever feel trapped by the concrete jungle of Boston? Our daily routines and constant business can keep us from seeing the entire Boston picture. Breaking our routines and giving ourselves time to decompress somewhere scenic where we can just enjoy the view is crucial to our mental health and stability.

While we still have some days of nice weather before the freezing winter temps come into town, go explore and enjoy the best views in the city at these 5 places…

1. The Charles River Esplanade

This one seems obvious for Boston University students, but often I forget that the Esplanade is even there! Sitting and watching the colorful sailboats glide by is relaxing any day. Take advantage of the beautiful views a couple steps from campus!

2. The Skywalk Observatory

Located at the top of the Prudential Center, the Skywalk Observatory gives you a 360-degree view of the city and beyond from up on the 50th floor. Nothing beats this view. There’s even a student discount when you show your ID! Learn more here.

3. Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park

Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park is the perfect place to sit, relax, and enjoy the views. If you go, you’ll not only be surrounded by a luscious green, aesthetically pleasing landscape, but you’ll also have the Boston Harbor right in front of you!

4. The Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway

The Greenway, a 1.5-mile string of parks extending from Chinatown to the North End, gives you a slice of nature right in the middle of the city. Although the Greenway consists of many art installations, food truck spots, and even a carousel, my favorite view is from the Rings Fountain.

5. The Institute of Contemporary Art

Besides the views of the fantastic art, you also get a spectacular perspective of the Harbor at the ICA. If you go to BU, there’s no excuse to not visit because you get into the museum for free with your BU ID!

When you live in the middle of a city, it’s easy to forget there are so many scenic views around you. With a city like Boston, where there are countless parks and waterfront spots, you must take advantage of them. Go outside and enjoy the view!
