The Top 5 Romance Books to Check Out This Valentine’s Day Season

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

February 14th is a dreaded day for some, while others have been looking forward to it all year. The season of love is upon us, but don’t fret if you have no one to share it with this year! Instead, consider picking up one of these romance books that are sure to hit you straight in the feels.

The Hating Game by Sally Thorne

My personal favorite––this book is your classic hate-to-love romance. It tells the story of Josh and Lucy, who work at the same publishing company and suddenly find themselves competing for the same promotion. Not only is this book romantic, but it’s also hilarious. It’s also being adapted into a movie, starring Lucy Hale and Robbie Amell!

The Simple Wild by K.A. Tucker

This book is about a city girl named Calla, who upon learning her estranged father has cancer travels to Alaska to help take care of him. There, she meets Jonah, a pilot who works for her father, who seems to be the complete opposite of her. This one is a bit more emotional than the other books on this list, but it’s one of the best books I’ve ever read.

From Lukov With Love by Mariana Zapata

If you’re looking for a sports romance, I highly recommend this book. From Lukov With Love is another hate-to-love romance, and it’s about a figure skater named Jasmine, who finds a new partner in her long-time enemy, Ivan. This one was hilarious, and it’s definitely worth the slow burn.

The Unhoneymooners by Christina Lauren

This is one of the most fun books I’ve read in a long time. It tells the story of sworn enemies Olive and Ethan, whose siblings have just gotten married. After a sequence of events, Olive and Ethan end up taking their siblings’ place on their honeymoon, where they have to pretend to be married for a week in Hawaii. It’s hilarious, and it’ll make you feel like you’re lounging on the beaches of Maui instead of being in the midst of a Boston winter.

Love and Other Words by Christina Lauren

The last book on this list is also by Christina Lauren, and if you’re looking for a more serious romance, this is definitely the book for you. This book rotates between flashbacks and the present day, and it tells the story of Macy and Elliot, who were childhood best friends but have since lost touch. It’s one of the most romantic books I’ve ever read, and it’s perfect for the season of love.

Whether you’re a fan of romantic comedies or dramas, you’re sure to find a favorite on this list. I hope you check out these books and have a great Valentine’s Day!
