Three Steps to a Better Weekend

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

1. Rise and Shine

Mornings are a beautiful thing. Use your Saturday and Sunday mornings to work out, get breakfast, clean your room, or whatever you need to do to kickstart your day. If the sun’s out, get outside and go for a run on the Esplanade! If it’s not, head to FitRec and get a good workout in before your day starts and reward yourself with a smoothie from the Juice Bar. Morning exercise can help you feel great and energized all day. Make sure you also eat the most important meal of the day in the morning. If breakfast for you is usually a quick granola bar or cup of coffee on the way to class, take the weekends to have an omelette in the dining hall, or head to brunch with friends on Newbury Street. Having a morning routine can enhance your whole weekend.

2. Get off Campus

Don’t waste your weekend in your dorm. We are so lucky to live right in the city of Boston–go explore it! Grab your friends and have dinner at a restaurant you’ve never been to, catch a show at House of Blues, see a movie in Coolidge Corner, eat pizza in the North End, meet someone for coffee in the South End…maybe even get a little lost. Make sure to check out The Boston Calendar for events happening all over the city every day.

3. Unplug

Put away your phone this weekend. Ignore your email, it will still be there Sunday night. Actually hang out in person with the friends you’d be texting. Don’t compare your night to your Facebook news feed, and don’t do something just for the sake of the Instagram picture you’ll get out of it. Experience this weekend with your eyes, not through your iPhone screen.
