I don’t know about you but I always loved Halloween as a kid — getting dressed up, watching Halloween movies, and attending the fashion show that is trick-or-treaters walking up and down the street.
Just like trick-or-treaters, Halloween knows how to show up in style: in the middle of the fall semester. When exams, projects, and homework seem to be never-ending, Halloween screams at us to have a little fun.
I thought about ways to have fun within the limits of a dorm room and found five recipes that are scary good and great ways to make any Halloween movie night, study session, or after-party a hit!
- Halloween Popcorn
-
Chocolate, popcorn, and candy corn are the stars of this recipe. The best part is that you can totally make it your own by substituting the white chocolate for milk or dark chocolate, using different candy toppings, or even sprinkling seasonings like pumpkin spice on top.
- Pretzel Bones
-
No x-ray needed to see these bones. I would recommend making smaller batches if you are in a dorm since the Microfridge is smaller than a normal fridge. This recipe is highly creative and super Instagram-worthy. Best part: no fractures when you break into them.
- Mummy Cookie Pops
-
The cuteness of this recipe makes it anything but scary. I think Oreos would be the best sandwich cookie to use in this recipe (although I am totally biased because I am an Oreos stan). You could even make these with friends to let out your inner creativity.
- Easy Strawberry Ghosts
-
This has fruit in it so that makes it healthy, right? Let’s just go with that. This recipe is cute, easy, and adaptable for big or small gatherings. It could be fun to make each strawberry look like each one of your friends.
- Reese’s Witch’s Brooms
-
Don’t leave yet if you are allergic to peanuts because this recipe can be tailored to your own likes and wants. You could use almond butter cups (these ones from Trader Joes are little bites of paradise), Rolos, or whatever candy you want. Sweep up the compliments with your witch’s brooms at the next party.
I hope you have fun trying out these awesome dorm room recipes! Be safe and have fun this Halloween!
