Although it may be hard to believe with all of the snow flurries and freezing weather, spring is just around the corner! That means it’s time to put away your old, dark winter nail polish and bust out this spring’s latest nail trends. Here are some nail ideas to look out for this spring.
Classic
Spring is all about light, bright and fun colors! We’re talking about pinks, yellows, purples, greens and maybe a few neon shades too!
Ombre
First pick out two colors that compliment each other. For example, a light blue and a dark blue would work nicely. In addition to your two colors, a clear topcoat is recommended. You’ll also need a toothpick, a small sponge, and a clear plastic sheet to create the ombre look.
1. Use the lightest nail color to paint your nails fully and wait for them to dry completely.
2. On the plastic sheet, paint a good amount of both colors next to each other with their edges touching.
3. Swirl the two colors together where they meet with a toothpick.
4. Next, dab the sponge into the polish a couple of times.
5. Then dab the sponge onto your nail lightly, slowly moving up and down. Repeat dabbing as many times as you want, but make sure each layer is dry before doing so
6. When nails are dry, use your topcoat. Feel free to do this two or three times!
7. If needed, clean up around the nails with a brush dipped in nail polish remover.
Glitter
For this you may pick any color as your base coat. You will also want a clear glitter polish for the topcoat so that it won’t clash with your bottom coat. Also, a topcoat is recommended to even out the nails.
1. Apply your color polish. 2-3 coats are recommended.
2. Wait until color coat is fully dry, then, starting from the base, apply a layer of glitter nail polish on top of the color coat. Wait until this layer is completely dry to add another coat of glitter polish.
3. When nails are dry, apply topcoat to nails. This should help your nails to last longer without chipping, and will help to smooth out the glittered nails.
