From Ariana Grande’s new album thank u, next to the Jonas Brothers reunion, 2019 has already been an incredible year for music.  Luckily, that doesn’t seem to be stopping anytime soon.  Best known for her single “Transparency” featuring Gucci Mane, singer/songwriter Shae Brock will be dropping a new single entitled “Sapphire Smoke” this Friday, April 5th.  Here’s everything you should know before you give it a listen.

Music has always been a big part of Shae’s life, and she doesn’t remember a time when she wasn’t singing.  She started playing the piano at the age of 6, and this precipitated her interest in making music.  She also picked up the guitar after finding her grandfather’s old Yamaha in the attic and begging her mom to string it.  Shae has also always had an interest in writing, which is reflected in the poetic nature of her lyrics.  Her biggest musical influences are Madonna and Stevie Nicks, and she also loves old rock and 80’s and 90’s pop music.

“Sapphire Smoke” marks a transition in style from a producer-driven, urban sound to a more chill, vibe-y style of music.  The single was inspired by the feeling of desire.  When asked about her lyrics, Shae explained that,

“’Sapphire Smoke’ captures the feeling of desire. Sapphire is the most intense flame and was how I depicted a burning desire. Fire takes over anything it comes in contact with, so does desire.”

The single will be available on all streaming platforms this Friday, April 5th at 12:00 am.  Shae is so excited to get to share her songs with other people, especially as this new single marks an important stylistic transition in her sound.

As a young woman pursuing her artistic dreams through her music career, Shae Brock’s passion and dedication are truly inspiring.  When asked if she has any advice for young women pursuing their own artistic endeavors, Shae wanted readers to know that “…we’re capable of doing anything we want.  Whatever your vision is, do it with all your heart.  It’s definitely a journey that can be hard at times, and amazing at others.  Celebrate each moment.”

She also wants readers to remember that close friends are so important to being successful in whatever dream you are pursuing.  Shae’s support system has helped her so much throughout her music career, and she’s super grateful for that.
