Outfits for Every Thanksgiving Vacation Occasion

This article is written by a student writer from the Her Campus at BU chapter.

With the beginning of our short-lived vacations and Thanksgiving only a couple days away, us collegiates are about to trade in the impending doom of finals with the comfort of home, family and friends, and some delicious homemade cooking. But first we have to pack, and in the mad rush to the airport or train station during this holiday season it is very easy for us to forget a few things here or there. Here are some examples of what to wear at every Thanksgiving vacation occasion to help with the last-minute packing chaos we are all too familiar with!

1.     Thanksgiving Dinner

If you aren’t already aware, Thanksgiving is the one time a year when it is condoned to go back for thirds; I don’t know about you, but I plan on taking full advantage of this. The only downfall is we have to wear real clothes and can’t just live it up in pajamas and a snuggie. Instead, I recommend you wear either a shift dress; a high wasted skirt or high wasted dark skinny jeans with a blouse or sweater; and finally complete any of these looks with flats, a boyfriend blazer, and statement jewelry. The idea here is to cover the inevitable food baby, while still remaining comfortable and cute!

2.     Football Game

This Thanksgiving vaca you may or may not find yourself at the traditional hometown football game. Now, you want to look pulled together because you’ll definitely be running into some former classmates, but not like you are trying too hard since it is a high school football game after all. An outfit that expresses this happy medium, all while keeping you warm on the sidelines, includes a cozy sweater, skinny jeans, riding boots, and a stylish jacket. Don’t forget a big infinity scarf for extra warmth!

3.     Black Friday

Now I have never involved myself in the Black Friday festivities; frankly the idea of waking up at the crack of dawn and immediately being surrounded by crowds of people doesn’t sound all that fun. However, if I were into that sort of thing, I can imagine I would want to be in the most comfortable outfit possible while being seen in the public eye. I am thinking of some yoga pant leggings, a flannel, a layered vest, cross-body bag and some moccasins. Complete the look with the ever-chic messy bun and a large coffee.

4.     Everyday

Who are we kidding? Other than the above-mentioned events, there is nothing that will motivate us to get up off the couch our remaining vacation time. We would much rather eat our leftovers, binge watch Netflix, sleep, have some more leftovers, and well sleep. In fact, this is the part of vaca I’ve been looking forward to the most.  For this roaring occasion, I’m a big fan of a pajama set, slipper socks, and a fleece blanket. Eat, watch, and sleep away!
